Headlights on - dash/gauges not illuminated

Hi all,

Quick question, just got the car (2003 Evo VIII) back after it had been in the body shop for several months. Went out for a drive last night and realized that when the headlights are on, dash/gauges do not illuminate. Makes is kind of hard to see how fast I'm going lol.

When the headlights are off, the dash/gauges are illuminated. Something must be wired backwards, but can anyone help on where to look? Could it be a fuse or maybe the wiring to the gauge dimmer switch?

Thanks for any input...

Hi,

Heh, yes I did try the dial . I thought it was normal for gauges to be illuminated when hl are off, but it's been awhile since I've driven the car so I wasn't sure... So when hl turn on, gauges go dark and dial doesn't work. I wouldn't think it's a fuse since they illuminate when the hl are off, maybe a wire somewhere?

Thoughts? I haven't looked under the dash yet, but was hoping for guidance on where to check...

Thanks.

Check that your tail lights are working.

Hey all, there were two plugs behind the headlight height and dimmer dials that were disconnected. hooked them both up and everything works again. I think the body shop disconnected them when shutting my alarm off.

All good now..
