Slight wine in 1st from 2k-3k

i have a weird wine in my car and cant figure out what it is. I started to notice it after the track. It only does it in first gear from 2,000 rpm to 3,000 rpm. sounds like a wine. After that it goes away

anyone else have this ?

It's pretty common in the EVO to get a low rpm gear whine. Normally seen in 1rst and 2nd at low rpm as your describing.

It's the constant whine at speed that you need to worry about

Typical drivetrain whine, most AWD cars have some sort of it

The reason for the whine---is the gear is straight cut. This causes the slight whine you hear. Its not a design flaw or an AWD thing or in your case anything to worry about. Its typical Evo noise.

Did you get wheel hop at the track? Most of the time, they will start making the "whine" after gettin wheel hop on a launch.

I love how straight-cut sound...would be as annoying as anything if you heard it all the time, but just something about the sound is mean as hell

The only straight cut gear the evo has is the reverse gear so thats not the reason its making the sound. But like everyone else has said, its completely normal.

If youre that worried about it change the fluid in the trans.

I just changed all my drivetrain fluid and it did reduce the whine, but it's still there a little bit. Nothing to worry about. When did you change them last?

I've only noticed it in mine in first gear, which I have heard is common.
