i used to run mobil 1 in my evo before i knew about amsoil. after 3k my mobil 1 always lost viscosity, looked like water running out of the oil pan. not to mention id loose a qt every 3k. switched to amsoil loose about a .25 a qt every 3k plus picked up 50 miles a tank. its a no brainer.

i like how people talk about amsoil like its so expensive. $8-10 a qt vs $5-7 a qt for mobil. stop being cheap. these r the same people spending thousands on mods.

Personally my car never seemed to run as "smooth" as when it was on Brad Penn, but I ran AMSOil after BP, and it could be I got used to that feeling. I have heard from a reputable shop that they would see BP leaving a "film" on internals, but I don't have any data to back that up other than what I was told.

Is the film good thing? I would think so as leaving a coating on bearings and whatnot.

Brad Penn all the way. 1000+ hp on methanol and bearing always look great. Never had a oil pump failure.

I have never had a problem with .99 oil so $15 oil is out of the question. I split the difference at $6 and use Penn. Im sure you will be fine with any oil.

another oil debate smh!!

minus well throw my 2 cents in
Shell Rotella t6 5w-40

used various amsoils, used mobil, used royal purple and to me beat them all!
WHY?

my car runs smoother, less oil consumption then all above, $20-$30 tops a Gallon!, available anywhere, high zinc and phos levels, and proven(do a search)

We need a little more info on your setup. OEM clearances, will you be running E85 etc.. ?

I'm running FP HTA Green with oil feed line left from the head and stock block/head. Also I have a dual map tune one for 93 octane and the other E85.

I prefer to use diesel oil. In my case I'm using Amsoil HDD 5w-30 . Here are a couple reasons why.

-ZDDP ~1400+ (Zinc & Phosphorus)
-Its offered in 5w-30 in my opinion best weight for OEM tolerance.
-Its tough enough for diesel fuel should be tough enough for E85 .
-Its synthetic and I change it every 5k miles using 93 octane.

I would suggest you consider diesel oil as well. Doesnt necessarily have to be Amsoil, but they have the weight and ZDDP I am looking for.

Yea also it would be prudent to ask in what weather or conditions the OP is using his Evo in.
