Angry Spun out today :(

There is a turn on my street that i usually take pretty fast because our house is the only one on the the street. Well today I did the usual and lost the back end, counter steered, then didnt counter steer fast enough again to save the car. It did a 180 and slid for about 30 feet into some dirt and i hit a fence, (not very hard). i was about 4 inches away from a concrete telephone pole. Im pissed at myself for doing a dumb thing like that but i realize that i am lucky to be ok. the car just has some scratches on it from the fence and from the plants. I guess i overestimated what i could really do. The CEL light came on and i reset the ECU and it stayed off after that, but im still not sure if there might be anything wrong with the car from being stuck in the dirt.
I hope you guys learn from my stupidity and drive safe. Its not worth messing up your car or your life.

Don't worry it wont. nothing is getting reported, because nothing needs to be. Everything is fine, i just need some touchup paint for the side panel. Mainly paint scratches

If it does, it's because of your OWN driving..

He didn't report it to the Insurance company..

Hey, is your EVO 8 painted in that flip-flop purple and green??

COOOOOL.

Five years ago or so I did something similarly stupid in my Camaro. Wanted to show off for my father how well my car handled (highly modified suspension and V700 tires) and overcooked a sharp S turn at around 50 mph. The rear end broke loose and I ended up doing a both feet in 180 on the pavement before stopping (didn't hit anything). I, of course, acted like this was no big deal (pointed out the 20+ feet from the next tree, etc.) while thinking to myself "OMG that was close!" Anyhow, don't worry about it. Just slow it down and save your 10/10ths driving for autocross and track events.

That's what I was going to ask - I took a 90 deg. on the first cold morning here (about 35 or so) and the pavement was a little damp and the back end came right out (not too bad just a couple of fishtails) - but I still wasn't expecting it.

It was pretty cold for cali and the tires werent warmed up all the way. I am still on stock advans. I wouldnt say i lost traction because of the temp, id say i lost it because of the debris on the sides of the road. (rocks leavers dirt). Anyway i just need some touchup paint. The Service Engine Soon light came on but i took out and put back in the 15A and 20A ecu thingies and the light has gone off. There is some dirt stuck on the undercarriage but it'll probably come out soon. There was a gripload of dirt that i managed to take out by removing the front underbody plastic.

The AO46s (I've been doing sub freezing temp drives and in snow) are NOT all season tires. I put a set of crap sumitomos on my car and they are terrible as far as handling goes, but much better for all season driving.

Yeah I drove my car in the snow with the stock advans and did a 180 on a three lane street. I was going about 30 and tried to switch lanes to quick. The car next to me was doing the same speed as I was(about 30) but I was driving backwards. Luckly my car stayed int he lane and I pulled the ebrake which kept me from hitting the car. I wont drive it in the snow without some snow tires again. Also one time I did almost a full 360 because I was making a right hand turn and in colorado there are lots of rocks on the road(for snow) and I hit a nice sized patch at about 30 and serioulsy did a 320 or 330. I had a friend in the car so I just took back off and kept driving but I was thinking how stupid was that in my head. Oh well Im glad to hear you werent hurt.

Glad you were OK besides the scratches ... you live, you learn.

I am curious what the SES came on for though!
