Has Anyone Blown a 100% Stock Evo?

So I was having a conversation with one of my friends about the reliability of our cars and he doesn't believe our cars are reliable. I told him that if our maintenance is taken cared of and you don't mod it, it'll last forever. And the only reason he hears of motors on Evos blowing up is because people mod them.

So I've been wondering if anyone has blown a 100% stock evo or one with very minimal mods?

Yes I did, Stock FMIC had a internal fin failure, and the engine sucked a few pieces of it into my head which ended up seizing my engine. 100% stock with the exception of a RRE axle back exhaust, and a drop in panel filter. No tune no nothing.

I wasn't talking about driver error or abuse.. Obviously anything can blow up or break if you abuse. More like the guy with the FMIC issue.

And Ferrari's aren't exactly reliable..

I read about it here. there is a failure rate for every single man made system.

caring what ignoramuses think is a fools errand (yes i have been very foolish).

Specifically what are you talking about then... and don't tell a ferrari owner/dealer their cars are reliable... If you dont abuse anything or you dont drive it , it will last forever...Now none of these are feasible or possible given the platform---so what is it your are trying to say/prove ? There are a thousand threads on why did my motor blow--, I let a friend drive my car and asked him not to rev it past 8500 rpm ...pls give me a break. All these guys thought it was "safe" to drive it that way. So it depends on your definition of abuse and or error...

I am talking about a stock Evo, with a driver that know's how to drive; Takes car of the maintenance; Doesn't drive on the freeway in 3rd gear for no reason at all; Doesn't drive with the intent to blow his car; Races his car at the track from time to time, but not every weekend.

^ Even with the driver that babies his car and does his maintenance... it's a machine, you can't predict when any one part on it is gonna break at all. Parts can go at anytime, even if the car is taken care of.

My question was not "Predict when my car will blow up"..

anything can blow up. there is nothing that is 100% guaranteed in life. even a non smoker can get lung cancer (my late uncle). time will tell.

No, you are mistaken about the no driving, lasting forever.
If you do not drive cars the seals tend to leak as the top part of the seal drys out while the bottom usually is coated in oil(rear main as an example). you then run the engine, oil leaks out and rubber never lasts too long.

Anyway OP:
These cars are not reliable at all, LOL. Tell your friend I told him he is right
