Soo... my hood latch cable broke

The plastic cylindrical ball that slides into the hood latch broke and I'm no longer able to pop my hood. I bought a used one not too long ago with plans on having it replaced. Until I started thinking, does anyone have alternate ideas for popping and securing the hood. Aside from hood pins, hacking or even getting my hood hacked makes me uneasy and IMHO The Fast and the Furious franchise made hood pins ghey along with other things that I used to find attractive. I don't really have any ideas but then again my sense of imagination escaped me in grade school. So if anyone could give some ideas that'll be much appreciated.

heres a 3:30 a.m. idea for you... instead of hood pins, run a cable out from under the front of the hood and return it back through the closest hood vent. clip the ends together and maybe put some soft material where the cable touches the hood.

its not an amazing idea but its effective and i thought of it pretty damn quick so i'm proud.

The reason for having the inside latch is security. So, even if you have hood pins you need an inside latch.
