Rattle Noise

Sorry if a thread similar to this has already been posted, I did my best to try and search for it first. I own a Evo IX MR and just hit 26k on the clock. I hear this very annoying rattle noise when I rev to about 3000 rpm. It sounds like it is coming from under the hood but I am not 100% sure. Have any of you had the same thing happen? If so how can it be fixed, because it is SUPER annoying. The rattle sounds almost like a scratching type noise, it is kinda hard to explain.

good luck, rattle noises are hard to diagnose online.
check everything for loose parts. check the wga arm
if u have an aftermarket downpipe, check the clearance with the under brace bars.

After taking a second look under the car I noticed the heat shield covering where the exhaust meets the exhaust manifold rusted off. There is also a crack in the pipe. Ouch, what should I do next? Thanks for the help I'm a little new to this

confused at your description. the exhaust doesnt meet the exhaust manifold ever.
top heat shield covering the exhaust manifold or the lower covering the o2 housing with the o2 sensor sticking out?
im assuming the lower heat shield. if thats rattling just remove it.
crack in what pipe?

^^^ if that's a picture, it didn't work. like sujinX said sounds like your lower heat shield, 3 bolts to remove and its off. As for the crack ill wait for the picture to better help you.
