Bogus Basin Hillclimb 2012

This last weekend was the bogus basin hillclimb. the event have been ran for decades, it was my 5th time participating

my previous times have been:

Lotus - 1:58
sti -1:54
evo on 245's street tires - 1:53

so this year with the evo on rcomps and having seat time in it, and of course my programmed ACD by ACD Tuning, i was really hoping to break the elusive 1:50 barrier. to the best of my knowledge a sedan hadn't done that so it was a pretty fun goal.

from my autox setting i took 3 clicks out of the rear suspension to hopefully induce some push in the car (safe set-up) but forgot to check air pressures. ACD was set on Tarmac, my conservative tune. for autox it is much much better than stock, but on the hill i like to play it safe!

first run - had unintentional off throttle over steer into turn 1 ... got the blood pumping and i felt super slow the remainder of the run.

second run - took out 2 more clicks of rear compression and dropped 4 psi rear tire pressure. run was fairly clean, worked on braking points and lines

third run - no changes to car, just the nut behind the wheel. tried to clean up lines and smooth up my driving.

ended up with:
1st - 1:51
2nd - 1:47.8
3rd - 1:47.4 (official time they called out at awards was a 1:47.3??)

i was super pumped on this, beat my expectations by 2 seconds!! started thinking if i could dial in my driving, put the wing back on my car i might be able to knock off some more time.

Sunday:

since i was racing SM i took my back seat out. this approx offset the weight of the rear wing. it seemed a little colder than sun, good for power bad for grip.

run one - the car was pushing pretty bad. debated on tuning that out with suspension but opted out with visions of my oversteer the day before. decided to REALLY scrub in the tires on the way down to get some heat into them.

second run - felt pretty good overall. broke a good 50+ feet too early for the last corner, left some time on the hill for sure, but i was at a 1:47.0 ...

third run - knew if i could stay clean and drive deeper into the last turn i could shave some time. drove WAY TOO DEEP into the turn and almost ran off the road, lost a bunch of time.

1st - 1:48.6
2nd - 1:47.0
3rd - 1:48.0

overall it was a great weekend. 2nd quick out of 60 cars, KOH was in a open wheeled race car with 500 hp.

Congratulations on your events and driving. I love seeing the driver, car, and acd programming all come together to get the great results.

this past weekend was a double event. saturdays course was an enduro with most drivers over 70 seconds. very technical course; experienced drivers were 15-20 seconds faster than noobs!! played with my acd tune (4 of them) and ended up inconstantly faster on the gravel; it has been my go-to tune most of the season. started off with a 4 cone slalom into the "swalons" similar to the west course at nationals this year (or so im told) ended up 2nd in pax but FTD for the cars, edging out some quick XP cars as well as (3) dedicated track race cars.

saturdays course was a drag race with a couple course, not technical. switched to the aggressive snow tune for more off throttle rotation on corner entry. the tune alone cut .4 off my times giving 1st in pax and FTD for the cars, again beating a few "race cars"!

start of the 2013 Season was this last weekend. Over the winter i went with a wider set-up and 18's. 18x10.5 to be exact. The new set-up made the car feel much more planted with the shorter/stiffer sidewalls. started off using my gravel tune and won our open class (only first 3 runs count like nationals). in the afternoon i took 2 more runs to plat with the set-up and try to dial in my suspension with the aggressive snow tune some more. after 2 runs i was able to take another .5 seconds off of my tire, further my gap for FTD to .980 seconds over a very well prepped viper in SSM. im really liking the snow tune and plan on working with it this year.

Starting 2013 off right, thanks ACD-Tuning!

Looking for an ACD Controller beta tester

Well I posted this some time ago but no reply so I am trying this thread as it seems the audience here truly care about ACD controllers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking for a motivated beta tester for a new formula based ACD Controller. This technology already has been proven on other makes. Must be a serious driver, have an ACD equipped and ready to install Evo, willing to start installation promptly and with a good knowledge of Evo electrical system . Must be in US/CAN and preferably east of continent. The motivation would be owning a new ACD Controller for free and being the "go to" person regarding installation and reviews of this new technology (bragging rights to be the first!). Please send me an e-mail at hoomand1(at)gmail.com or a PM if you are interested.

had a double header this weekend. still tuning around the snow ACD tune and loving it. Saturday was a fast sweepery course with a 4 cone slalom that really suited the aggressiveness of the snow tune. ended up 1.6 seconds ahead of 2nd for door slammer FTD and 1.6seconds ahead of second in pax.

sunday was a tougher course that i helped design. there was a very high speed sweeper that had a crest in the parking lot in the center. i was short shifting into third, probably pulling 75 mph. car kept getting unsettled and i actually spun out once (doesnt happen too often). ended up using the gravel tune to settle the car down a bit and i was able to keep from lifting. ended up .5 sec over second in door slammers for ftd along with .98 seconds ahead of second in pax.

the ability to control the diff with ACD-Tuning's tunes never ceases to impress me!

I still so want to do this. Car is looking good, and the stats are incredible. Wish I had more time to hit the track...

Does this ACD Tuning increase the diff pump pressure over stock? Or only changes the diff lock maps.

Have you done anything else to your ACD tuning since then? I really like reading your story lines.
