Bad clunk, something hitting the floor ?
Okay guys here is the problem.
car : Evo IX MR , with basic bolt-on ( IC pipes , full tbe , intake, tune ... )
Well my evo 9 have a lot of weird clunk this spring . But let's start with the one I am wondering the most . It started a couple of month ago, but it's just getting worse week after week .
I am 99% sure the sound is coming under the car, and seems like something hit the floor. It happen every single time i am deccelerating and braking at low speed when i approach a stop sign per exemple . Sounds like irregular thud clunk .
So could it be the driving shaft , because it is clearly not my tbe . last week my car was on the lift fo an oil change and i looked closely at this area . I was able to get the driving hit the floor (like if i was bench pressing the car ) where one of the two support is located . The big round bushing seem too soft .
But what I do not understand, is that i've done the same thing on my friend's evo and his does not clunk .

Have you checked all of your suspension components?
Here's a pretty good basic guide for how to inspect your driveshaft.

I had an appointment to the garage today for a diagnostic . Seems to be in the front passenger area . More precisely , in the caliper area . Happen every time at very very low speed when I brake
i know you said not TBE but check your downpipe against your transfer case again..mine made a loud clunk noise but only sometimes for some reason and it felt like the driveshaft was hitting the floor

I already checked the Cobb downpipe but i will double check again to be sure . I am running brand new front and rear disc ( well installed them in october ) and brand new Hawks HPS pads ( october too )
But it is more loud than a click sound .
Im going to garage again next week, i will give you new informations . We will found it for sure, i can't live anymore with that clunk :P
The two mechanics who checked my car agreed that they are pretty sure it is almost impossible the driveshaft hits the floor like i tought .

My cars wheel kind of wobbles and clunks when I am braking. When I go over a bump it also makes a clunk. I checked my suspension components and found out my outer tie-rod had a lot of play on the passenger side.
i have the same problem!! damn clunking.....i was told it could be a bad rotor but he had no idea why it made the sound so frequently and even when im not braking. LET ME KNOW WHAT U FIND OUT PLEASE! im replacing the RF-cv axle and hub assembly to hopefully fix the noise problem. last time i checked my front end it was tight, outer tie-rod makes a diff kind of clunking but i know what u mean.

You may have to wait a while :P
Well , they discovered that it may be my brakes pads that are clunking combined with the fact that my rotors are slotted . They move a little bit up and down and would need to be shim with i don't know what.
As I said, I have Hawks HPS since last October , and I am pretty sure thoses clunks were audible before hawks . Hawks pads replaced the OEM brembo . I do not doubt about 3 old mechanics, but .... If they are right , i will be very happy anyway .
Sounds weird that a so much tiny up and down movement clunk badly like that ...
I know there is a thread on here with somenone talking about hawks pad clunking because they are not the same size of the oem . I will read it again tomorrow

i've run hawks and have no issues... but i have dba 5000xs rotors. not brembos.
i had a knock sound coming from my front driver wheel area. I searched and searched and searched. finally felt it was time to rebuild my struts cause they are pretty beat up. turns out my strut was blown. didn't sag or anything. but wouldnt compress more then an inch. while the other strut traveled like 8 inches.
