HVAC Color change?

Hey guys so i have a question.

I saw a picture a few days ago but i forget where it was. It was the HVAC console Illuminated but instead of the ugly green it was red? I have never really taken apart my console but was wondering is this easy to do? is it just a small bulb or is it hard to change the color? Im going to the Navi console soon and when i relocate it i would like to do this so it matches everything. Any input is appreciated thanks!

Just found the picture actually... ironically its the kid i bought the Double Din kit off of LOL! ill see if i can get ahold of him but does anyone have an answer incase i cannot?

I did this with my dodge ram... I haven't looked at the back of our hvac panel to see what bulbs it uses or if you use that gel paper to change the color. You can get pretty much any kind of led from superbrightleds.com. I'd like to change it to orange/red as well. It looks sharp.

Here's my truck that I changed over to all blue:

I got amber glass stain by Krylon and painted the clear plastic piece that distributes the light behind the knobs/buttons. Looks pretty good. By the way, I would not recommend getting automotive LEDs from superbrightleds.com... I had 3 sets, none lasted more than 2 months. Just my experience.

thats what i did too i just bought the paint from walmart and painted the bulbs. theres how tos in the how to section. but basically you take off the knobs where youll find the screws for the panel. unscrew it, pop it off and youll see the bulbs

I used a red sharpie marker and mine looks great. I have mine colored where the cold part of the A/C is still blue and the part where it says Max A/C is still white. Stock isn't green anyway so the previous owner must have changed it since stock is white.

I've taken apart my hvac more times than I care to mention. It's not hard at all. The bulb size is bp37. I got mine at napa. The stock ones come with little blue condoms on them, but I didn't put them on the new ones I bought and they're sort of a red orange color. But to change the color you can use krylon stained glass paint or a red sharpie. However I had red sharpie on a bulb in another car and the color doesn't last very long.

The clear bulbs I bought made my hvac color nearly identical to the picture in the first post.

It will last for several years with the sharpie. If you color the plastic, not the bulb itself.

I will post a pic when it gets dark here tonight polish_pounder

It was really easy. I would say it was just as difficult as the HVAC. They all have been red for 4 years now and look the same as when I first colored them.
