You will not gain the answers you are looking for until you call Geico and get the answers. It isnt going to raise your rate just by asking.

All you will continue to get here is what you see above this post. But be sure to post your findings after calling them, I am interested to hear what they say.

You're wasting your time. They cover serious damage, claimed within a timely manner. You can't get 10 years worth of wear and tear and wait to claim it all at once like it happened yesterday. They will almost surely shoot you down. And just filing a claim may drive your rates up.

If the cracked headlights are enough to cause a failed safety inspection (state inspection), they might pay for the new lights.

This thread's a joke, right? It's got to be. ROFL!!!

I worked in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster for both State Farm and Geico. And there's no way in hell that even falls under Comp or collision portion of your insurance.

Just in case you want to know what Comprehensive coverage consists of:

Fire
Theft
Riot
Hail, water, or flooding
Vandalism
Wind
Damage resulting from an animal
Glass Breakage
Missiles or falling objects (the term missiles used here does not refer to the military context - instead refers to any flying or propelled object)

Don't even try using 'Damage resulting from an animal'...it's when you run into an animal or an animal collides into the car.

What I see is normal wear and tear plus crazy neglect on your part. It's absurd you'd even try to make a claim on this. Insurance is to indemnify for your loss or damage caused by other people or things. It's not meant to cover wear and tear and neglect by the insured.

Sure, with a good reason of course. What caused the damage? What coverage on his insurance covers the damage? What is the deductible for the coverage he's claiming under?

More than likely unless his deductible is really low, he's better off paying out of pocket for the headlight.

It's called insurance fraud. Not really a good thing if your insurer finds out. This guy needs to take some accountability. Insurance isn't there to make your car new when you feel like it.

Insurance doesn't cover "poor paint care". Do yourself a favor and purchase this;

As someone mentioned already. Each 'incident' is a separate claim in most states. Meaning for every incident, you have to pay out a deductible each time. The hairline cracks and paint damage are not related thus requires two separate deductibles.

Regardless, they'll deny your claim based on the fact it's normal wear and tear. And btw, under the insurance contract it specifically states it's the insured's duty to report all claims regardless of fault in a responsibly timely manner.

My friend, you have no claim.

Insurance won't cover it. But it will cover if your car gets vandalized or hit it will be covered. Worked for my brothers 95 supra when someone vandalized it. If you want to change paint thou you have to pay half or at least that is what the insurance company covers if it's vandalized. I'm not sure if geico does that thou.

Some hostile people on here need to settle down, is there a problem asking a simple question? I posted it here because I don't want to call Geico about it in fear of just a question raising my rates. I have a clean history which is why my insurance is so low. Geico has been good to me in the past when I got rear ended they couldn't have been easier to work with. I said I can detail and get it back to pretty much new but some of the chips and spots where my clear coat is gone won't be fixable. I'm going to sand/buff tomorrow and see how well it comes out. I said before my deduct is only $500 and since my history is clean they might cover some of this and not raise my rate. Is there a problem with asking a question? Is that a no no on this forum now and I was just not awair of it or what?

You can ask anything you want but if you ask stupid questions just like any car forum you'll get flamed. No insurance will not cover 10 yrs of neglect or wear and tear that is not what your car insurance is for.

The damage doesn't really look that bad from the pics. The paint can be fixed with a little elbow grease and some time. It needs a good cleaning, wet sand, buff, then hit it with some rubbing compound, another wash, then another buff, then wash, polish, wax. It will look nearly brand new after that!!
For the headlights. If you cant clean them up with the same method as above, ,then you'll need to replace them. But I've brought back a few sets of headlights that were so faded and cloudy that they were given to me for free..

If all that fails, pray for "paint vandalism".. just kidding.. that's illegal...

I have a question for the OP. When was the last time you had the car detailed? Either by yourself or professionally? Paint looks to be in very poor condition with the scratches and swirls, hard water marks and such.

If this was a ongoing issue with the birds or whatever, I would think that you could have been proactive with the problem and attempted to maintain your paint and plastics with the occasional polish and wax. Or maybe that's just me.

Either way, a professional detail should get your paint looking new again.

Best idea rt here!. Nothing is free, not even insurance. You need to check how any auto insurance works-- you file a claim and then you play for it anyway with increased premiums for years to come-- cheaper to take it to a detailer and try and keep up on keeping it clean and bird dropping free--that C*ap is like acid to your paint and eats rt thru as you are finding out. Keeping it washed and waxed is the best remedy. Good luck.
