So i'll be doing a Evo IX MR build this summer/year(s). And I was wondering if any of you on here have ever did one from just the bare shell up? I'd take any type of advice you have to give. Even if it wasn't an Evo build. Thanks!

Wow like a completely stripped down shell? Well I helped restore a shell once, and we followed the repair manual exactly to try and get as close to a factory spec as possible. Like torquing all bolts and fabricating as little as possible. Take your time. It better not to rush so the final product is something you are proud of and you feel safe driving it. No rattles and shakes.

Hey I have a Evo IX MR engine wire harness thats complete if you need one.

Yup, not even a steering wheel assembly. But thanks because it's gonna be a DD. Thanks! I'll pick up the Evo 1st and if you still have it i'll gladly buy it off of you.

I'm doing my own "frame off" this next winter. Unfortunately I drove my car in two winters and the slight amount of surface rust really bothers me so I will be stripping it down to nothing and starting over. It will be countless amounts of hours with wrenches, grinders, sanders and the paint gun but it'll be worth it. Figure do it since the engine bay will be gutted for a new MAP anyway

Lol i wish i could help! The only thing I won't be doing is the body work seeing how it does have a hit on the rear right quarter panel area and a little chopped in the front. I'm doing a little research because I was watching the speed channel and this guy was showing how they had a completely stripped shell like im planning to get and he had the car on a rotatory type machine and he was putting some type of rust free lubricant on the car. I was wondering if shops do that or just add it to the paint. But getting it painted is the last thing i'm gonna do.

Definitely! But I'm planning to build it right back to the "actual" Evo IX MR specs with some extra work like cams, bigger turbo, intake, straight pipe. Goodies like those
