Looking for Roll cage and front lip & ideas to make it look better..

Hey guys..

Looking for opinion on Roll cage and front lip for my 03 Silver

its completely stock on outside with lowering springs.
guy who had it before me had a carbon lip and there are gashed in the bumper from it.

I dont know how well the Ebay cages are....not sure if they are NHRA approved..

any ideas help

THanks

I would not get a ebay cage. if you want a cage get one made for your car.

Alex,

A roll cage is meant to save your life so you should get one specifically made for your car from an experienced builder. Most eBay cages have not been tested and are bought mainly for looks. As for a lip, I would go with the ralliart or SE lip. They follow the lines of the car very well and won't hurt your wallet as much as a carbon fiber lip.

Good luck.

Cheap cages are dangerous, it will cave in on you during an accident and driving with a full cage on the street shouldn't even be considered unless your going to drive wearing a helmet constantly and even then, MR popo won't like it too much. If you were seriously getting that deep into racing it, you wouldn't post these questions so I recommend you losing the idea of getting a roll cage and buy a Sparco harness bar if that's the look your going for. Again harnesses are dangerous for street use so don't consider it.

I've heard good things about the ebay lip if you don't mind making it fit and doing a bit of work getting it mounted.

If you're serious about racing and getting a cage you might want to call Thompson Racing Fabrication by Detroit. That's where I'm having mine made next year and I'm driving nearly 8 hours for it. Ryan at TRF does amazing work and his cages can be found in a ton of rally cars, but he does other custom work too. If you want his contact info feel free to PM me.

The one kit I know of in the rally world is a kit from Davenport Racing. I'm not sure about it being NHRA legal, but it is Rally America, CARS and NASA legal, you just have to do all the welding and installation yourself or find a shop to do it. If you don't want to have one made (my recommendation too) the Davenport one is top notch and used in more than a few rally cars.

This thread may give you some bolt-in ideas. But maybe you need a weld-in

Cheap cages, bolt-in cages etc are a hilariously bad idea. It's designed to save your life in the event of a catastrophic accident, don't go cheap on safety.
