Wrong tie rod evo 8?

Got some oem outer tie rods today and they dont fit? The tie rod hole is bigger than the shaft? Could someone have put regular lancer tie rods on it? Is this possible?

this is because the aftermarket inner and outer tie rods use an 11mm threaded shaft. stock and OEM replacement shaft size is a 12mm shaft.

lancer/evo 2003-2007/08 (from what i saw at the part store) all use the same 11mm aftermarket design.

what happened to you is someone replaced the inner tie rods with aftermarket inners (11mm) and you got the OEM (12mm) outers. you need to get a set of moog outers, i can confirm they are 11mm shaft size.

source: had the same incident 2 weeks ago, and i work for moogs parent company

Well, at the parts store, evo and lancer all use the same aftermarket part number for a good amount of model years, and it is only a tie rod, so im assuming not at all with a proper alignment on the car. still trying to track down the guy at work in charge of those moog aftermarket parts to find out why everyone decreased shaft size. good luck!
