New Open Source Telemetry/Logging system being crowd funded
Just wanted to let folks know incase they were looking for some sort of logging/telemetry solution that there is a group of racers who run a company called Autosport Labs up in the north west that is in the final stages of developing a system they call Racecapture Pro. I'm not affiliated with them I am just an early adopter of their system and frankly I'm excited to get one in February (I actually found out about them due to a post in the Motorsports section of the forums).
They are currently crowdfunding it via indiegogo.com to get production off the ground and they have about two weeks left to meet their 30k goal (even if they don't meet their goal you still get a unit if you funded the "perk"). It would suck for them if they don't meet the goal since Indiegogo takes like 9% as opposed to 5% if they make their goal.
So for any circuit/autox/rallycross/drag racers or car enthusiasts looking for a fully open telemetry and logging computer for their car or if you know someone who could be interested have them check out Race Capture. It has a 3 axis accelerometer, 10ghz gps, multiple digital/analog inputs and outputs for any sort of sensor/control mechanism you would want, live telemetry via cellular hook up, live display via bluetooth/usb, and computer software to help analyze the logs. It also looks like ODB/CAN support is in the works, not sure how hard getting MUT support would be. About the only thing its not going to do is drive for you or bring you a coffee. The system also has a scripting language so you could have things actuate based on sensor input, a couple examples they gave would be sensor driven aero and IC sprayers, kinda neat. All that for ~300 bucks (a little more for the bluetooth/android connectivity).
Designed, produced and made by racers for racers so you know its going to be good. You can check them out at http://www.indiegogo.com/RaceCapture
