A break from "show", want a little "go"
A break from "show", want a little "go"
Okay, so I'm coming up on 60k, and have pretty much spent (some will say "wasted") my money on a lot of JDM bling and ARC, and am ready to take a break and work on performance. Other than front mount, turbo back, and usual bolt-ons, I have no performance parts. There is a shop here who does pretty decent basic tunes, and over this past month, I've accumalated parts that I want to put in and have this a basic tune done, until AMS comes back out and I can get a real one. Below is the list of parts I have. Any additions/suggestions? It is kind of a 60k service/ small performance upgrade combo. Also, I have very BASIC knowledge when it comes to mechanics (I'm all about sounds lol) and am still learning:
Walbro fuel pump
HKS timing belt
HKS balance belt
Kelford 272 cams
GSC springs and titanium retainers
AEM wideband
AEM tru boost guage/controller
AEM oil temp guage
NGK spark plugs
1000 cc low impedance injectors

Intercooler upper/lower pipe(ets), port your OEM exhaust manifold at map, Megan or any other o2 housing, ( since you said you have aftermarket TBE and intercooler ). Boost controller ( hallman mbc or grimspeed ebcs ), evo 9 bov or tial bov. These are bolt-ons. These and cams will make it around 330-350 whp or more at 20-24psi with stock turbo, pump gas.
Okay more specifically when I say bolt-ons, I mean pretty much all bolt ons (I already have all Intercooler piping, O2 housing, BOV, etc). I guess what I'm getting at is that I'm trying to make sure I have everything to support (1) upgrading my cams and (2) upping the boost some
My goal right now is probably around 350. Just a little power, as my primary focus is (bring it on haters) JDM parts and interior/Varis exterior right now because there is no track here in Hawaii, so no point in going bigger turbo until the Army sends me back to the mainland
I think you need to start with a goal in mind, also what you plan on using the car for (street, track, autox etc.) as well as a budget.
I think once you determine the above the upgrade paths are pretty strait forward these days and there is a TON of various threads on this type of stuff. I'd recommend searching around once you know the above questions and then put up your thoughts and have people comment. All I can suggest is do things right the 1st time, and well be realistic about your goals.
Origionally I was like 300whp, then it was ah 375 then it was 420 then I was like ah might as well go for 500 and I finally where I want to be not only with WHP but with my power curve.
Hawaii ah... would be fun to keep up with the street bike crowd through those twisties!
