Thumbs up Got my evo :)

Hey guys,

I've been on the forums for a while now but mainly just browsing and doing alot of research aka search button so I'll make this short seeing I'm sure this subject has been posted 1000 times over. I picked up my apex silver evo almost 2 weeks ago now and love the car. My previous car was a 95 3000gt vr4. I can't compare the 2 because this car is a totally different beast but man I love it. I'll go for a turboback exhaust, ecu reflash, intake/bov in a month or so after i got 2k on the clock. I'm still debating on going to worksrally or vishnu for service and modifications. Both are 45 minutes from me. Gimme some feedback! Anyway glad to be a part of the evo family

Matt

Welcome and congrats on the purchase. Its all personal preference, but I'll be going with WORKS for my aftermarket parts. I will most likely get an Espelir Cat Back, the the rest will be WORKS...DP, ReFlash, Cams, intake etc...I guess you should talk to both places and go with who you feel more comfortable with. Good Luck

welcome aboard!

my cousin is planning on moving from the 4wd 3000gt to the evo like you did. even though they are two very different cars, can you elaborate about your experience looking at one vs the other?

Congrats on the purchase. My first car was a 94 vr4 and it was a beast and a great car but it too bad it weighed 4k+ pounds. I cant wait to get my Evo...

Interesting topic. Very hard to put it all into words but I'll do my best. The vr4 obvious is a much heavier car and has much more power and torque with its setup. I had some decent modifications on mine cf driveshaft, hks vpc,hks evc, tein suspension, turbo back exhaust, etc. I'm not gonna list it all since this is a gernalization. Anyhow the 3000gt vr4 is a awsome car but its dated aspects show today. It's very fast off the line and handles decently for its' weight. But you get more of a sliding feeling around corners at higher speeds vs the evo where you pretty much feel all grip. It exits corners almost the same but not nearly as nimble. The all wheel steering also probably has a factor in that. It's a very big car and if you build the 3000gt right they can be pretty nasty on the street but so can the evo. It'd be kneck and kneck on the street honestly if the vr4 was decently modified. But if you goto persay thunderhill or willows springs, etc the Evo shows its' true colors obviously over the vr4. But like I said it's like apples and organges the vr4 is a touring sports luxery car vs the evo is a raw handling rally machine. I've owned actually a stealth tt and a vr4 so 2 vr4 based platforms. They are a blast but extremely expensive if things break. But like the old saying goes you have to pay to play. I'm sure this will go the same route with the evo but alot less of a money pit. To conclude this I'm happy with my new investment and look forward to my new minimoney pit This is about as compact as I could make it but I hope you guys see it how I do.
