Evo vs. STI | Anything and Everything [ALL THREADS MERGED]
And who gives a $h!t about ACD, and AYC?? The ONLY place they make a difference is OFF ROAD, and how many of us are going to let our cars come anywhere near dirt and rocks?? Mine'll stay on the street, and the paved surface of permanent courses (I'm not a fan of autocrossing...sorry). Trust me, those of you who wish your EVO would've shipped identical to the Euro 7 you aren't missing a thing, and saying an STI is superior because it has these largely useless peices of equipment is just plain stupid.

This is some funny stuff, tons of people on here said the US EVO better have AYC and ACD last year, and now all of the sudden ACD and AYC is useless???

I would guess about 1% of the people will actually drive a car with no a/c and no stereo.

You'll be surprised at how many hard-core enthusiasts there are out there. My '97 integra Type-R did NOT get A/C as standard . Of the 500 cars that were brought in during that year, it is estimated that at least 20% still dont have A/Cs.
I thought in the video of the Evo launch at the LA Auto Show they mentioned a time table for the RalliArt Evo. I don't remember too clearly right now.
Anybody else remember seeing this video stream?

Well you could always try to import the parts from Japaneseparts.com. Although it says the parts are for Evo 7 I suspect most of them can be used on the USDM Evo too.

I had a 1997 ITR also.
I bought it used with 5k miles, but after owning a S2000...... I personally did not like the ITR at all. I only kept it for 5 months then sold it.
Compared to the S2000, it was slower, body roll, etc.... (i did race it against my dads S2000, so it know it was slower).
Anyway...hopefully you will be happy with either the STI or the EVO.

Megabusa, i agree that the majority will prefer A/C and stereo, but by providing a choice, the manufacturer is able to satisfy both groups simultaneously . Besides, because these items are easily installable (unlike hardware items like LSDs).

I stand corrected,
S T I and YELLOW Calapers. funny thing
about the driver of the STI, when i cought up to him he had on driving gloves those things went out with the 80's
he must be working for some dealership if not subaru HQ, looked like the offical buisness nerd type. he said the car was from a dealer in Secaucus NJ. bogus, no Subaru dealership in secausus Nj.

whats the big deal with ralliart??? its expensive, its expensive, its not gonna be that hardcore of upgrades cuz factory upgrades never are hardcore and its most likely gonna void your warranty just like any other aftermarket parts.
In Europe I do believe Ralliart components do not void warranty, hence the "big deal" with Ralliart. I for one would like a US FQ version with full factory warranty, as I am sure many on this forum would. I would pay more for the peace of mind that having the warranty would give. Might also force some of the aftermarket guys to put warranty on their work???
here in the states, pretty much nothing is underwarranty. mitsubishi already had disclaimers in reference to modifying your car in their brochure so i dunno. also ralli art parts dont seem all that extensive and for the price there are other parts that are pretty much the exact same - with less history behind them that are performing extremely well.
one of the best mods you can do to ur evo is the turbo back exhaust with either hiflow cat or testpipe and o2 simulator. there is no way in hell that a part like this would be covered underwarranty by any aftermarket manufacturer - and from what ive seeen ralliart doesnt offer items like downpipes and boost controllers. or ecu upgrades - all which void your warranty. they dont seem to have an intercooler kit either, that might not void your warranty - also might not make a big difference with mostly stock parts.
ralliart suspension maybe the best bet because its not half *** like the engine parts . also other miscellaneous pointless parts for rallying that a street car wouldnt need would be good items as well, cuz i doubt other companies are gona make "gaurds" for the undercarriage and hi-power alternators.
