4:11 Final drive with 26" QTP?

I'm in the process of getting my Transmission built at TRE with the 4:11 final drive. I already have the 16" FD rims and I am waiting to get back from deployment to buy some QTP's. I have read from other threads from different individuals that a 26" tall tire doesn't work well with the 4:11 final drive. That a 24.5 tall would be preferred choice but then I would need a 15inch wheel and small brake kit setup. I was hoping to get some education on this on why that is.

i think it comes down to your whole setup and driving style. a stroker can get itself out of the hole pretty good

Well its a 2.0LR motor, I plan on running the quartermaster street version clutch.

Speed in each gear @ 7500rpm on an ideal 26" diameter tire (from TRE)
  • 1st = 50.6
  • 2nd = 72.5
  • 3rd = 100.3
  • 4th = 128.9
  • 5th = 171.1

Geared WAY too tall for a 2.0

Stick with 26's and the stock FD and rev out your 2.0 or sell the FD rims and go with the 24.5

.... or build a stroker

would love to build a stroker after the 2.0 is done, but not happening for a long time. How would I go with a 24.5 on the stock brembo's? I would assume they make a 24.5 for 17in rims but not 16s

Im trying to understand how 1.5inch difference would hurt the car, car makes power and will keep pulling after 9k

I can tell you that your gonna want a 24.5" tire with the 4:11 final drive. I was on stock ratio with 26" then got tre to do my trans with a 4:11 final and while I was waiting on my trans I switched to 24.5" tires and when I got it back I can tell you it was completely diff. I had to slip my clutch more and raise my 2step a little to get it to come out of the hole good again. So I couldn't imagine it with a 26" tire. It would be way to tall.
