bought a built evo 9 engine and installed it but the car cranks and turns over when I give it some gas and then it just dies. I also heard a screeching sound in the engine might be the belt. What might be going on?

Like a belt screech or metal to thin disk of metal like your crank sensor and crank angle plate?

 

Did you prime the oil pump?

 

I'm trying to think of what the part is that is by the fuel pump that you have to make sure is lined up with the proper marks.... I haven't had an evo 8 in forever.. but I had this same issue on mine with a built motor and I thought 100% this part was lined up and it was actually lined up with the wrong marks...

 

it sounded like a belt idk from what tho maybe timing belt but it sounds like this kind of

 

and yes everything was done right the oil pump and everything with the fuel also had them cleaned out.. idk its just wierd.. it starts only if i give it gas and i got it around 1500rpm and then it dies. the car has built block and head, i blew up my old engine in process of doing e85 conversion we didnt get to fully tune the car but it has 1000 id injectors md walboro pump and they have been set up for e85 but the power tune was not done only i was going to do that after i break it in..

 

i put everything built in this car new engine transmission t case as well

 

The part I mentioned is called the crank trigger disk! Make sure this part is lined up correctly or it will do exactly what it is doing now.. I had to take the motor back apart to get to it when I built the evo 8 I had.

 

Damn! That's a 2.6 L Stroker? Who built it?

 

No thats not mine. Lol just example haha but I still cant figure it out.. what else can be wrongg..
