I'd get it. 10k and an extra grand to have shep do a basic rebuild on the trans and you have a great 11k evo. That is if everything else checks out as well. And if this is your price range you must not be looking for a good condition evo so the hole in the seat and paint won't be needed.

He still hasn't gotten back to me yet so I'm still waiting on him for that. As soon as I get to look at the vehicle and drive it I can tell you guys how it went and see if the vehicle will need a new clutch or tranny, but thanks everyone for the responses they're really helpful

Sooo it turns out that he sold his car too his buddy from CT and now his friend is trying to sell the vehicle for $14,500 when the previous owner tried to sell it for 10k. I talked to the person selling the vehicle now and he says the previous owner only sold it for 10k because that's how much he owed the bank, and he says he wont go any lower because he's "fixing" the clutch and bought a new spoiler for it. Should I keep trying with this or move on to finding a different evo. Your input is always helpful, thanks guys.

One of my biggest concerns is if the motor was abused and if it's even worth it?

FYI this car was running a big turbo making 450whp. The last owner went to a stock turbo but is driving untuned. I was also interested in this car. I did a lot of research on it. All I dug up was nothing but bad things. It was a hack job according to local tuners who are very well known on EvoM. It had good compression when tuned but that was a while back. None of the prior 2 owners could tell me if the 60k service was done. It is now due it's second 60k service. Neither could tell me when the diff and trans were done either. It is asking for trouble. I actually ponied up and paid a little more and am picking up he MR for sale in Lowell which was also on CL.

If you are familiar with these cars great but don't pay 14k for that thing. At 10k maybe. I was going to offer him 9k but he blew me off twice before selling to Hartford. Oh we'll it worked out for me

Obviously reupholster or get a new seat

I pay 100 a month, full coverage but 500$ deductible if something happens.
Also have the wifes legacy on there, hers is like 65$
Have quite a few discounts added in there though.
My last moving violation was back in....sep 2009

Sweet, thanks for that, I'm definitely not going to bother with this guy anymore and congrats on the mr, was it the apex silver 05? I was thinking of getting that as well but you beat me to it aha. I'm actually on the verge of purchasing an evo off of a member on this forum. Best of luck to you good sir

For a single male under 24, you are in just about the worst bracket for cheap insurance. Unless you have a few reckless or dewie tix. I have learned that cheapest isn't always best. Been railed twice by the same ins. Company. Won't say names but it rhymes with gekko. I'm with progressive now, 2 cars, 2 drivers, 250 deductible, for 160 a month. (I got some crap on my record too)

Yea is was trying to justify the 10k car At the end of the day it needs roughly $2k of work between a tune and maintenance just to get the car safely running. That is not including fixing the seat the sideways intercooler the bad paint and any other surprises. All in all at the end I was looking at spending the same total on the Mr, which yes is the apex silver 05 that has the 9 SE front end. I looked that car over and liked the owner and the fact he had all receipt from parts labor and maintenance that was done with the past year. He was up to date and ahead of schedule on everything and the car drove great. It was easier to convince myself to spend a small amount more upfront. Plus ingot a car two model years newer and a higher value car with 10-15k less miles and in much better shape. Be patient
