Dashboard Issue with my 2006 Evo IX MR

This is a strange one and is progressively getting worse. Basically my Dimmer switch does not work, and hasn't worked for years so I never could figure out why but it never bothered me and I let it go as no major issue. These past couple of weeks however I noticed that my dash lights are always on, not matter what, so lights on, off, or just parking on the dash lights are always on. Also when I turn on my Head Lights the indicator light no longer works.

Any idea's?

Thanks fellas, video is below.

the dashlights meaning everything in your gauge cluster, speedo, tach, fuel, etc are always on all the time, that's normal, there's nothing wrong, thats why there is that little green light that comes on when you turn on the headlights to let you know you ACTUALLY have your lights on, as far as that green light not lighting up, that's probably just the bulb burned out and as far as your dimmer, probably bad dimmer switch or loose connection

My dimmer broke too, do you have anything wired into your radio power harness?

Like gauges?
Just the factory gauge cluster, but that came with the car. I just think the dimmer is bad.

Also could anyone tell me what all the lights on the dash are and what they are supposed to be and where? I need to take inventory of the lights I need to fix.

My switch blew twice

Dealer said its over loaded by something (replaced it the first time).... I know I have my gauges wired through the stereo circuit

Your dimer switch or the light bulb indicating the head lights are on?

Here is the Evolution Instrument Cluster Bulb Chart...you may find a better diagram than this...this is all I could find at the moment.

Hope this helps..

what? When you do one click on the stalk(parking lights)try using dim adjuster. When the lights are off you cant adjust them. What headlight indicator you speak of? If you have fog lights then it illuminate. Thats the only thing I have in my car. Mine is an 8....so maybe it might be different?

our Head Light Indicator is probably out too. Look into that.

Update I was driving home and my whole dash and center HVAC controls were getting dim and flashing between DIM and bright. IDK what that means but this is new.

Have you checked your alternator? Dimming of your lights usually, not always, means your alternator could be going out...just a thought.

What turned out to be the culprit?? Alternator? Bad instrument cluster bulbs? Something not previously mentioned?

Hope it's fixed.
