Not too sure where all the hassle is...and where exactly is the 1-2 pounds for the turbo timer located? I like it and I think it helps a great deal.

People love to argue. And when there is not a good or important topic to argue about they argue about insignificant crap like turbo timers.

i've read through every post in this thread before I post and overall...i think i'd prefer getting one because 1.saves time even if its 30 secs cuz sometimes im in a hurry and i have absolutely no time to slow down or sit in the car for a few secs or minutes 2. the "bling" of people asking wow whats that does it make ur car fast 3. it does more than just stay on after key is out of ignition. it has more features 4. its only 100 that might just save us lots of money when our turbo is ****ed

I wanna go with the Apex one cuz its small and compact or the HKS Type 1 cuz of the good things im hearing about it, but currently no TT at the moment. But its 1 of the first things i plan to get when i get some money

Has anyone done any testing, like sticking a temperature probe in there and measure the turbo's temperature under different conditions?

Oh, and I use my turbo timer every time. It may not do anything, but it's no big deal to just set it and walk away.

If you have an EGT gauge, you'll get an idea of when it's needed to let your car cool down.

i have the greddy tt, it was cheap and its saving me alot of time because everytime my friends have to stand outside and wait for me to get out. the only thing with the greddy one is that the speed sensor aint that great because once you start cruising at 75-80 the time that becomes set to idle just grows and grows, and eventually it becomes 10 minutes. now who wants to idle their car for 10 minutes?

I don't think an EGT would serve testing purposes. I want to measure the turbo's temperature after hard driving and then immediately shut it off.

the dealer that sold me my car said it should be the first thing to get for a turbo car. now true maybe our cars do come with some kind of coolin feature, not sure on this. if u think about what happens if u are late to go somewhere, and your just rushing to your destination hittin boost on the way. then the timer comes in handy. but if u are on just a short drive then it has no real purpose. did we forget that u can turn off the timer if u feel it dont need to idle?

also if u are the ones that leave ur car in gear, then just dont hook up the e-brake feature. its not gonna stop the timer from working. and if someone does get into your car when u are gone. all thats gonna happen is the steering wheel is goin lock into place and they are only gonna drive straight until the timer shuts the car down. even if they put a key in the ignition...its still needs to be the right cut (to turn the ignition) and have the chip in it.

basically turbo timers are cheap and they can help in most situations. remember they do have a off switch. so just pay the 100 and shop around first. some websits or cheaper than others.

look its bouncy blob

No. I want one yet am concerned about doing any electronic mods or lots of mods. Seems like its better not to since Mitsubishi is so strict. Would help the life of the motor and turbo however.

Dude, I did mine myself and if you follow the instructions it is an easy installation. Even the wiring to the cpu was not that hard. Dont forget to get the ignition wiring harness and that saves you all sorts of grief. Just be careful and look it over the instructions and the wiring carefully.

I have the Greddy FATT and it has some cool features. I use it to record lap times and when I am rushing to get to work, haul assin' the whole way, don't have time to cool the car down.

Install took about an hour and is pretty pain free. The Evo interior is pretty simple to take apart also
