Question car wont start after intake install

so i installed a aem intake earlier today and everything went fine until i tried to start the car. it will turn over to try and start up then die right away, i did wipe the inside of the maf since it looked gross but the metal thing in the middle is intact and all the connections are made, is there something that im missing somewhere or did i mess up the maf when i was cleaning it? any input is appreciated

ps. the maf plug is plugged in correctly i checked it like 4 times and also tried starting the car without it plugged in with the same result

Take what I say with a grain of salt as I'm new to the evo world, but, this seems MAF related. Your not supposed to touch them.

^I agree. Did you try buying MAF Spray cleaner and cleaning it out? I wonder if wiping it actually oiled the surface of the MAF...

Alright when I get off work I'll pick up some maf cleaner and see what I can do, I'll keep it posted letting you guys know if it works. If anyone has something else to add feel free. I don't have alot of experience with maf's

"wiped" the MAF!? I was under the impression you don't want to even touch it for one second. Hopefully the MAF Cleaner will do the trick. Don't touch it, just spray it.

Wanted to step back from the MAF part and ask about the UICP(upper intercooler pipe). Did you have to remove the pipe to install the intake, and did you connect them afterwards? Evo's absolutely refuse to run without the intake pipes connected. I have ran my Evo without the MAF plugged in and it will start but runs crappy (starts non the less). Hope this helps a little.

Do you have a means for monitoring the iat (evoscan or my obd2 scanner displays it too) this would be the easiest way to check if the maf is now bad. That or you could test the maf via a multimeter can't remember if I got the procedure from the service manual or alldata but there should be one in the service manual.
