Got my Evo new at the end of January 2004. Immediately afterwards the ice age began here. I saw the placard on the door but chose to ignore it, I was coming from a DSM that got around good on any tire. Bad idea. After nearly wrecking on a couple of occasions, I mounted some left over DSM rims with snow tires on the back. You can do this with enough washers. On the front on one side I put on the spare. The spare had better directional ability than the stock tire. Still, at every corner I had to yank the emergency brake handle in order to turn. I had learned this from watching rally videos and it worked. Needless to say, next fall I had snow tires on.

Yeah I just need to do like the Yankees and invest in a set of snow tires and wheels to keep on hand, esp being in the military and not always knowing where I'll be stationed.
