Racing Seats.. The impossible search
Racing Seats.. The impossible search
I have absolutely no idea what i'm doing as far as looking for a racing seat.
I'm not willing to spend over a grand per seat, I was looking for a reclinable seat but they all seem to be much lower quality compared to fixed.
I looked at the evo 2's (I'm not big but I'm playing it safe)
I am unable to find quality reclinable good looking seats.. I would like something that is comfortable for a 2 hour drives and is good for daily driving.
Not sure where to really look, would like to see if anyone has had any previous experience with certain seats.
Going into an evo 9
Thanks!

please dont.
ask yourself this, would u trust yourself in a car accident in a "replica" seat to save money?
if your answer is yes, then just keep the stock recaros.
if you like fixed seats (i prefer them) the recaro pole positions are fia approved and large and way under your budget.
recaro spg are nice but they are for smaller people.
racetech rt1000 are nice, very similar to the spg.
the sparco evo's are a good choice. its really a matter of comfort.
i've driven across states with the recaro spg and never had a problem. the poles are the same just larger.
all personal preference.

If you want to get a bucket seat for track days, then I suggest going and sitting in a variety of seats before you decide. Think of a race seat like a pair of really expensive shoes. You want to make sure they fit before you buy.
Bride(China) When bride split one of the owners went to China. Both have rights to the brand but one is made in Japan for a crazy amount of money and the other is mad in China at crack head prices but they are both officially authentic Bride seats. Some kid done a repot about it in my speech class. Not sure how credible the sources are but I now the owners of bride did have a falling out.

If you want something that looks like it should be in the evo 9 I would take a look at the Edirb series. They're Bride's "luxury" line, so they offer a lot of the same exact seats as regular bride (ex the bride gias ar the edirb 033) but they have leather and alcantara or suede. So in my opinion they look a lot like the oem recaros as far as the materials goes. Only downside being they are spendy but they are only $300 more than the regular black frp brides and the same price as the carbon frp but the edirbs have black carbon shells to begin with. Just more options to complicate things haha.
After 2 hours I want to murder my Recaro's. It could be that they are 10+ years old, it could be that they are leather seats, but the combination of age plus leather, these seats can go to hell. Factory Civic seats from a 1990 held up better in the overall comfort over distance category.
Whatever you choose, don't forget that what you pay for is what you get. I know most guys here wouldn't skimp when it came to safety, and the last thing you'd want are your seats ripping out should you (god forbid) get in a wreck

They're the same exact dimensions as the bride gias, and I've seen guys running those in the evos just fine. Only difference is the material of the "cover" for lack of a better term. This seems to be the best picture showing fitment I can find. And as for the rear you can either pick up an evo 9 rear seat to match, have the 8 rear reupholstered with standard fabric, or I think it's evasive motorsports ( and several other dealers I'm sure) where you could get bride fabric and have the rears reupholstered.
