ACD vs non-ACD (Racing use)
Hey everyone.
Been a while since I last posted but oh well...
We're facing a decision at the moment - we're building a "cheap" so to speak hillclimb/time attack car.
Currently discussing the options of putting in the non-acd transfer case with an uprated LSD or switching the whole system for ACD.
I'd like to hear some experience from people who have actually RACED both setups. I understand that ACD with a remap etc will be faster in the end but we are talking "semi professional" drivers here, not hunting the last thousands.
How is the mechanical diffs compared to the acd in terms of predictability and repeatability around the corners?
I understand both systems well and so on, so please "omg acd roxxxa9ue913" answers. It's a technical debate that I'd like to keep simple, but still on a decently high level.
In theory - pros I've listed so far for myself are:
Non-acd pros:
predictability
maintenance ease
cheaper
no acd pump
no need for acd ecu
weight
acd pros:
should be better when setup right thereofre-> adjustability
easier to drive
forgives more mistakes in terms of driving
To add the relevant parts of the setup of the car:
2 liter, ~450hp
AST 5300's 3way adjustable
265 slicks on 10,5 wheels
upgraded rear mechanical diff
full out race car - roll cage, emptied etc
Any feedback appreciated.

Look up a guy whooped by Texas Dave. He does hill climbs (including pikes peak) in his Evo. In a online interview he gave he said he ditched ACD in favor of a Cusco 6535 center diff. He said he preferred a mechanical differential opposed to a electronically controlled one
