2 Quick maintainenance questions - Fuel pump / wheel alignment

Hi guys,

just two quick questions, everything is running fine, just wanted other peoples two cents on what ya'll do in regards to:

1. does anyone periodically get a wheel alignment? i have hankook rs3s and rotated at 5000kms, it is now at 10,000km.. should i just rotate again or should i get a wheel alignment (it has also been 1year). - nothing to suggest the alignment is off, car drives fine i just wanted to know if others do it periodically.

2. i have a walbro 255 fuel pump.. had it for roughly 4-5years, nothing suggest its failing but do people tend to replace them after a certain amount of kms/time etc?

any input from others would be much appreciated, thanks in advance !

No advice on the fuel pump.

It is a myth that cars need periodic alignment. Alignment is needed when the old alignment is off. The tires will tell you when alignment is needed.

There are only three ways the old alignment can be off - you hit and bent something, something is worn in the suspension or some other repair was done that involved the suspension. In the first two cases a repair is required before the new alignment can be done.

Periodic alignment seems to be required if you are never getting a good alignment. An alignment when not needed may result in a bad alignment.

I have my Wally for 5-6 years.i always keep another Wally in my glove compartment in case the old one dies and I can replace it on the road.personaly I don't think I need to change the pump at certain km or miles.

possibly replace it.. or check spark plugs.. get a proper shop to diagnose the car if youre not sure

you can get a walbro fuel pump for under $100 brand new.

I would physically look at the fuel pump. Had a 255 Walbro in the tank since 2008, replaced with a new unit a month ago for preventative maintenance. The fuel sock was gunked with a tar like substance.

typically it is wise to get your car aligned when you get new tires.
The tires will tell you. Just because your car is driving strait does not mean the alignment is in spec. If you notice excessive inner wear on your tires, chances are that the toe is off.
So just take a look at the tires.

I had my walbro pump for about 3 years and it started to fail on me. If the pump is still working fine then there really is no need to replace it right now.

One thing you should ask yourself, is it in the best interest of a tire store to give you a perfect alignment?

^^^^ I would not have just any random tech align my car. find someone who is well known for doing alignments in your local community

Start a new thread to ask questions and people will usually be happy to help you as long as it isn't something you can easily just search for and find.

Taking over other people's threads with your off topic questions is frowned on and usually just ignored but since you're new I thought I would at least let you know to start your own thread instead of just ignoring you.
