Help! Car won't start.. No crank.. Please help!

I just put a new stock motor in my evo 8, when I go to start it for the first time I get all dash lights, horn , radio, windows, interior etc..
The car does NOT crank... All the dash lights/ cluster stay lit up but no crank or anything... I do not hear the fuel pump either..

I have 12v at the + cable on the starter... Although Not getting any voltage at the signal wire with it plugged into the starter when trying to start the car.

But if I disconnect the signal wire from the starter and stick a test lead into the connector when I try and start the car I get 12v reading on my tester (power probe).
And strange enough I hear the fuel pump buzzing on but only when attempting to crank the car over.
I then tried to use a jumper wire from the disconnected connector and to the signal wire post on the starter but no voltage then and no fuel pump like before..

I have also tried to jump the starter, by disconnecting the signal wire and just supplying 12v to the signal wire post on the starter and it will crank but not fire.. Telling me the starter is good..

Sorry for the long post but trying to explain my findings.. Any help would be great!! I really need this to run! Thank you!!

So your starter was the issue? I was thinking that but the starter cranks the motor fine if I apply 12v to the signal post..?

Check the grounds first, then the wires going to the starter. If that doesn't fix it, check the ignition switch.

In the circuit there are the ignition switch, clutch switch and starter relay. It could be the relay but usually voltage without power is caused by a loose or burnt wiring connection.

Why did you change the starter in the first place? Same issue or is this new only after changing to the new starter?

Oh, read the original post wrong, "new stock motor" I read as new starter motor, lol. I'll scan over the wiring diagrams this weekend and see if I can help find some things to check for.

So it turned out the ignition cylinder is maybe getting worn.. With testing and trial I found the key needs to be pushed in fairly hard while turning it on... Thank you for everyone who posted and attempted to help!!

I had a very similar problem, it was the connector onto the starter that slips onto the lil metal prunge, i had to crimpe the connector jusst a bit so it would stay on tighter. Id often go to start my car after a good rip and the connector would slide off cause it was just not tight on the male side. Hope tht u have a problem this stupid lol cost 0$ to fix! Jus grabed some plyers and squeezed it on! Boom starts amazing everytime
