Need some opinions... Too good to be true?

http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/5446611579.html

I can't possibly imagine why someone would be asking $15k for an evo with 500 miles on a rebuild unless there was something wrong with the build already.

I think I'm going to give it a test drive and see if it's a poor build. But if it seems solid, should I take the risk?

Thanks y'all!

Call up EO Performance and ask them about it, is the build warranty still valid etc
I wouldn't walk into some place with 15g in my pocket, make sure your packing or with a few guys lol
Also beware of any excuses like, oh it's blowing smoke because it's still not run in

It seems reasonable to me. I mean its an 2003 with 100K+ miles so being 13 years old its not a bad deal. The motor being rebuilt can be relevant and irrelevant to whoever is looking at it, we all know it doesn't add value technically but to the right buyer it will be a value. Oh and I would take it to English Racing if you're in Seattle area or to the shop who rebuilt it if they would still acknowledge it.

Keep in mind the guy who has the car is running two different wheels on the front and back.

I knew the girl who owned the car a few years ago, no idea who she sold it to though.

Talk to EO and get a Carfax. Go from there.

Be careful with H beam rods. Cheap budget rods and too much tq can can destroy them.

the different wheels can kill the drivetrain if they are different in size, specially if the car has rearranged rear diff plates, H beams are better than stock rods, go and tell him to keep the car cold, touch the engine before you start it and make sure its cold, when you start it look for blue smoke from the tailpipe, also, do a compression test when the engine is fully warmed, lastly, do a few pulls and have somebody look from the back for blue smoke, blue not black, blue is smoke, goodluck.

Different wheels means the guy was on a budget... so probably not the best on maintaining the car because of financial issues. Definitely keep an eye open to details

If you already are skeptical on this deal, then keep shopping around. You may end up spending more just to get it back on the road or do yet another build to fix it. But you do in the end have the choice...weather you get it or not.
