So, I never knew that most cheap *** scan tools will not read secondary (pending codes, such as misfire. If your CEL is on, it will tell you the code but without the light on these little OBDII scan tools are useless.

I did not want to do it but.. I went to Harbor Freight bought there $70.00 scanner, didn't work. Advance Auto, didn't work. Both returned of course ( Minus harbor Freight had a $16.00 restocking fee, I was not happy about that...) -

I would love to have a scan tool, tha is not $200.00 + that can read codes, it shouldn;t be that difficult with today technology for god sakes. I have been trying to read all the different scanners, but non of them tell you whether or not it will read those...

Anyone have any luck with a certain tool? I want to be able to read all primary codes, (CEL light is no) and all secondary codes (no CEL light on but pending, saves codes that have come up)

 

I use the app dashcommand and this. I think in total I paid $30. It gives you the active codes and pending.

 

Will Evoscan work for this sort of thing?
