I got this in the mail today, with the horror stories of Evos getting messed up I’m sure this is holding back a lot of people.

Just a quick thank you to Superbovine for keeping us all up to date. Not many dealers left who really know these cars so it's appreciated.

Here is some airbag recall info I copied and pasted from a carfax report on a 2005 Evo 8:

04/05/2018 Mitsubishi MotorsManufacturer Safety recall issued
NHTSA #18V220
Recall #SR-18-005
LANCER - PASSENGER SIDE DAICEL AIR INFLATOR

Status: Remedy Available

Click here or call 1-888-648-7820 to locate an authorized Mitsubishi dealership near you to obtain more information about this recall.-Learn more about this recallDescription: AS STATED BY TAKATA IN ITS DEFECT INFORMATION REPORT DATED MAY 18, 2015, "THE PROPELLANT WAFERS IN SOME OF THE SUBJECT INFLATORS MAY EXPERIENCE AN ALTERATION OVER TIME, WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO OVER-AGGRESSIVE COMBUSTION IN THE EVENT OF AN AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. DEPENDING ON THE CIRCUMSTANCES, THIS POTENTIAL CONDITION COULD CREATE EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE WHEN THE AIR BAG IS DEPLOYED, WHICH COULD RESULT IN THE BODY OF THE INFLATOR RUPTURING UPON DEPLOYMENT."

ACTIVATION OF A NON-DESICCATED AMMONIUM NITRATE INFLATOR WITH DEGRADED PROPELLANT MAY RESULT IN AN INFLATOR RUPTURE. AN INFLATOR RUPTURE MAY CAUSE METAL FRAGMENTS TO PASS THROUGH THE AIR BAG AND INTO THE VEHICLE INTERIOR AT HIGH SPEED, WHICH MAY RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.

Remedy: OWNERS OF ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES (AFFECTED VEHICLES ARE THOSE 2004-2006 MODEL YEAR LANCER VEHICLES THAT PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED NEW NON-DESICCATED "LIKE-FOR-LIKE" INFLATORS AS A TEMPORARY REMEDY UNDER 15V-321) WILL BE NOTIFIED BY FIRST CLASS MAIL TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO A MITSUBISHI DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER WILL REPLACE, FREE OF CHARGE, THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR WITH A NEW, NON-AN BASED INFLATOR. OWNERS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR ANY EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL WILL BE DIRECTED IN THE NOTIFICATION LETTER TO CONTACT THE MITSUBISHI CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPARTMENT FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO APPLY FOR A REFUND. à ‚ï ¿ ½IN GUAM AND SAIPAN, ALL 321 2004-2006 MODEL YEAR LANCER VEHICLES THAT PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED OR NEVER RECEIVED A NEW INFLATOR UNDER 15V-321 OR 17V-569 WILL BE RECALLED BECAUSE MITSUBISHI IS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHICH OF THOSE VEHICLES MAY HAVE RECEIVED A NEW NON-DESICCATED "LIKE-FOR-LIKE" REPLACEMENT OR A NEW NON-AN BASED INFLATOR.à ƒÃ¢ „ ¢
