Evo 8 Having problems
Hello guys, I'm fairly new to the car game, i just recently bought my dream car, an Evo (obviously), I'm having a problem with it atm. The problem is it is stuttering, like when you push on the gas, its not producing enough boost. Not sure how to say it, but thats how I'd say it. My mechanic says its temperature related, but it does it when cold starting it and warming it up. He's already replaced the fuel pump, coils, cleaned the injectors, spark plugs(both copper and iridium). Not sure what to do at this point, running out of ideas. If you have any ideas please let me know, him and I are more than happy to hear some ideas. Thanks.
Hey welcome aboard & thanks for posting. I take it, its not throwing a "check engine" light? Could be a severe boost leak. Make sure all your connections are checked & tight. A real boost leak test should be done!

@minusprevious
That’s exactly what it does, it will show up sometimes and when I see it pop up it goes away after showing up.

This is the list:
Hks 272 cams
Xspower intercooler
800cc injectors
Manual boost controller
Evo 8 turbo with 10.5 hotside
Open dump
Full no name exhaust
Arp head studs
Also got a stand-alone ecu for it, EMU. Got a new blowoff valve for it as well, need new rear struts dunno if that could be a factor. He never tuned it to e85 just put regular gas in it, he never properly tuned it either. Right now it should be running 20-25 psi, but currently running 13-15 psi due to the issue I’m having at the moment.

The problem was rather very simple, it was my blowoff valve, it was a ****ty *** aftermarket one, didn’t have enough bounce or spring as one would say, also I didn’t need to go stand-alone, not to mention it had a pretty ****ty tune. So the guy I went to switched the blowoff valve, replaced some o2 sensors, put in a boost controller, took off the stand-alone and ran stock ecu, he also replaced the front struts(idk what they are called) which caused the vibration, and retuned it perfectly, put it on a dyno. My other mechanic that I went to didnt know what he was doing hence I quote”I don’t like evo’s.” So now I’m stuck with a stand-alone ecu that I have to sell and a ****ty blowoff valve. The only minor things I have to fix are throttle body idle screw, rear struts, and realignment. Next thing to upgrade is E85. Guy I went to was a guy named Kevin from Evolution Dynamics, who runs the shop, and specifically focuses on Evo’s. He even fixes em and sells it.
