Guy backed into my Evo

So I bought an evo a month ago and yesterday I was leaving a parking lot when this guy backed into my rear bumper.

In the future I was planning on replacing the usdm bumper with a jdm bumper and I’m wondering if anyone has ever replaced their bumper with the jdm bumper through insurance?

Heres the damage

You should be able to use the insurance money to buy what ever bumper you like. If you had a lien on the car then the lien holder might want you to use certain parts. Considering the age of the car though I'm guessing that's not the case.

Yes.

Just show your insurance how much an OEM bumper cost vs JDM one.

I got a whole ETS intercooler kit when I rear ended someone.

Awesome did you install it yourself or did the body shop do it? Because I’m aware that you have to modify the crash bar and license plate mount.

You can always buy a crash bar for the JDM rear. That's the route I went when I had my Evo.

Get a mom n pop body shop to help you get insurance involved and install the parts you want after insurance checks off the car.

Some insurance companies see the finished product to make sure the damage is properly refinished to factory specs.

AFAIK they only do that to make sure their customers aren't getting ripped off by the body shop. The money is yours to spend how you like. If i wanted to take that check to Vegas that would be fine. Again assuming no lien holder.
