Need some advice trade Evo 8 for a 2008 STI

Hey guys I have a 2003 moded evo 8 pulling close to 450hps, lately the transmission started to make a noise and is hard to shift at high RPMs, a friend of mine offered me to trade his 2008 STI it has some mods and it's pulling arround 350HPs, the dilema that I have is the following, should I go for the confort ride and improve 5 years on the subi as a more daily car or should I stay with the Evo even thaugh I might need a new trans and uprade to a twinclutch?

Any advices are welcome, I really like my evo but is becoming very exepensive toy for a daily car and the Subie looks good but I have not heard good things on their engines

Yeah, for sure keep the EvO & turn it into the weekender. Would have gotten tired of my EvO if it were my daily

How many miles on trans? Maybe synchro related! Could be clutch as well!

Thx man! It's an used tranny I replaced it about 2 years ago, I think is above 100k miles, could be the clutch I was planning to get a Greedy twin clutch any advice?

You do not need a twin disk clutch at your power level. And rebuilding the trans will be cheaper than the engine build the subie will need when it inevitably breaks.

Keep your evo8 they will continue to climb in value can’t really say that for the Subi.

Of course he offered you his 2008 sti, those are the most common depreciating subru sti models ever. If i were him and the deal went down id be laughing..im not being bias either ive owned a subaru sti type ra and loved it but the 08 is by far the worst. The evo is probably worth more with twice the mileage and the trans/clutch issue you described.

If you plan on staying in the mid 400 Dynojet WHP, then a good O'l ACT HDSS will work just fine. Ive been on mine for years at that power level

I figured I could chime in on this since I currently own a evo ix and a 2008 sti both modded evo is at 400whp sti is at like 330ish to be honest the sti is a little more comfortable my wife drives it daily I drive the evo daily every time I get in the sti I think to myself is this the last time she will pull and blow and inevitably it will as with my evo I feel like I can beat it all day long and not worry an ounce...

so take it how you want but I would never trade my evo for any year sti

That's the thing If I keep it I'm planing to go to low 600's as the engine was build to get there, I'm just waiting to install a meth kit and resolve the transmission issue and upgrade the clutch.
I think keep it is the way to go!

The Subarus don't last long even if it's a stock STI so if it hasn't had all it's internals replaced with forged parts then you will be looking at a new engine and a new trans too because they also break apart. I don't know what it's like in the U.S.A but here in Canada you can get two or three 2008 Subarus for your Evolution if you replaced the Transmission.

You could also look into trading someone for a low mileage Evolution GTA which has sound proofing among many other things to make it a more comfortable daily driver including a smaller inlet on the turbo so it spools faster, automatic/button shift transmission, less agressive cams, a hood with no vents and so on. Mine even has satalite TV, Micro CD player, Navigation, old school giant DVD player and automatic air conditioning plus things I don't know yet. Sadly I can't get weather forecasts and Satalite TV in Canada with it though lol same with navigation.

Sorry but why would anyone trade an evo for an sti.. the only problem it has is you might need a new tranny? That's not even that big of a deal. Get a new tranny.
