O2 sensors

O2 sensors

So i have an A/f r but its connected to my oem o2 sensor becuase it was an early mistake, now i have an aem wide band sensor and im wondering, can i just replace the oem o2sensor and keep the base wiring i have or will this screw with the ecu /fuel mixture of the car?

So if your wideband has a narrowband simulator output you can wire that in place of the front 02 sensor and the ecu will recognize the signal and use it for closed loop. You cannot however just wire up 0-5v analog output to replace the front 02 sensor, the ECU cannot recognize that signal. What most people do is leave the front 02 sensor as is and wire the analog output of the wideband into the rear 02 sensor and run a simulator patch so the ECU doesn't trip out about this. Wiring the analog output into the rear 02 sensor input allows you to log wideband through the ecu without a separate cable (although its slower) and use some safety features available in aftermarket roms (boost cut on AFR out of range, and CEL Flash on AFR out of range).
