Stalling/no throttle after ECU swap + SAS activation

Hi, first post here so apologies if it’s in the wrong section.
Been surfing these forums for years and more often than not find the answers I’m looking for.

So the car is a 98 V RS - car had quite a few gadgets on it when I first got it but I’ve put almost back to stock barring some bolts ons. Car has a Tomei exhaust manifold onto factory turbo (10.5 housing), CT9A style intake and battery relocation, 3 inch turbo back exhaust and Ralliart style intercooler piping (stock cooler). ECU is factory but second hand as the ECU the car came with was an old Bozzspeed that **** itself. It is a V RS RHD ECU.

So first issue. Car runs well but feels down on power and also cuts spark when coming on boost, WOT is usually good. If you roll on with partial throttle above 3k it will cut spark, or if you let off. 3-4K is the range it does this - I’ve seen countless threads of this happening but it is always occurring at 5k or above and WOT for everyone else. Is this an AFR issue just lower than usual in the rev range?

I tried the old Bozzspeed ECU back in the car and this issue disappeared but this was just a test as that thing has many other issues.

I ordered a Havok ECU and installed it (swapping pins 8 and 22 as the car wouldn’t start initially). Car started after this but had no idle what so ever and would cut throttle and stall if I tried to keep it running. Same thing under load, car would cut out despite any throttle application. I fitted a Walbro 255 which was audible when priming with the Havok ECU where as it isn’t with the stock ECU. There’s also a loud chatter which seems like it’s coming from behind the dash which again is not present with the stock ECU. I swapped the pins back and am running on the stock ECU again with no issues other than the aforementioned.

The SAS system is supposed to be activated on the Havok ECU.

I noticed on the Havok ECU this spark cut is still present at the same rpm range so now I’m even more confused as this is a totally different tune effectively. I’ve got plugs on the way (BR8EIX) and have purchased Evoscan software (just waiting on plug).

I guess I’m after any pointers to at least get the car running on the Havok ECU before I can scan it.

I will scan it with the factory ECU first and see if there’s anything going on that isn’t tune related before going any further.
