Thinking about selling my evo 8, i love it and its fun as hell but street driving with no air condition, 2 disc clutch and laggy gt3582r is kinda not my thing anymore.
I also think longer term it will be ”cheaper” to have a loan for a newer car and not have to spend money and TIME on maintance/repairs for evo.
i mean more likely the 465whp evo will break then a stage1-2 m2/rs3
Anyone went from evo to a newer car? Been looking mostly at rs3, m2, m3 and supra. I want something around 500hp. Do you regret it or never look back? 😁
Theres a big thread on here with a bunch of the evo guys who have or considering going to the new supra, personally if i move on i am thinking about an M2/3.
I had thought about selling my evo for the last 2-3 years. Ultimately I decided to keep it simply because of the rare factor and because ive had it so long (since 08). There is a long list of cars better/faster/quicker than the evo, but an evo will always be an evo.
Having said that, im simply going to save up until I can buy my (realistic) dream car which is the Corvette.
The RS3 has definitely caught my eye along with CTS-V and ATS-V but they are simply out of my price range wwithout having to sell my truck which I wont do.
There Is life after evo, just not yet for me. I would recommend test driving the cars you are interested in. Usually you can feel right away if its not for you.
If I had to sell, I'd look for a good M2 however the price of these over here in Au have gone up so I couldn't justify spending 70k then modding costs on top of that

I sold my 05 evo8mr because my wife hated I worked on it all the time. I still regret it til today. I bought a focus st had it a couple years I never really liked the car so while I had that I bought a 2006 mini Cooper John Cooper works which I love driving til today I also bought a 2006 Jaguar s type r it has a supercharged V8 which I still have as well but it's getting hard to find parts for. So 2021 I traded the focus st for a 2021 supra but I could only get the 4 cyl one new in AZ. I had a lot of fun with that car and I felt like Batman driving it but it was impractical for me having a wife and two young daughters. So Dec 26th I went to Lexus and bought the new Lexus IS500. I've been really happy with it but the aftermarket and mods for that car are non-existent or sold like they're made of gold. I guess that comes with the brand. I luckily got a chance to help PPE ENGINEERING in Tempe, Az develop some headers and midpipe so they can sell to the Lexus community. I do miss the Evo every day maybe I'll find a beat up one or a roller some day and rekindle with my favorite car again.
Ugh...that "wet cement" NPC GREY color and all variations of it...can't stand it, but it's the perfect color of the modern corporate clone "platform" with no soul... I can see why every other thread where people who had Evos and sold them regret it.
The only car that I see that I am intested in owning is a 2016 and up 911 turbo S.
i went with a couple dudes on some long 3 hour upstate runs with a couple of them in the group (2017 and up ) and after seeing them perform so effortlessly on the highway I have truly never been the same, Mind you my 8 was making 740whp on a pte6266 gen 2 e85. And they walked around me and the other drivers with the greatest of east no matter the speed they were cruising at 150+ Mph all day with out even cracking a sweat smh. And when we got off the highway way and driving locally you could not even the engine they were so quiet. What a sight to behold.
I did the opposite. Stopped messing with new cars and bought my Evo 8. There’s nothing on the market that gives you that analogue feel. The only thing I’d consider selling it for would be an 8V RS3, because easy 9sec daily driver, but prices are absolutely ridiculous.
**edit: NVM. Didn't realize this was an old thread. 😂
Have you thought about rolling things back a bit and returning the car more back to stock?
My car is track prepped, I pretty much only drive it on road courses...but it has air conditioning, a single disc clutch, and an HTA 71 turbo. It is an absolute blast to drive at any time, in any weather condition.
I just bought a car to replace it. But, I'm having a hard time letting the Evo go. I have to admit, if my driving experience was similar to yours, the car would have been gone a long time ago
Every time somebody says how much they love their Evo and then start talking about turning it into a race car, making big power, etc I always warn them.
I have done my fair share of making cars undrivable in the name of performance. I will never do that again.
My new car is not near as fast as the mitsubishi, but it is so fun to drive aaaand I don't have to put it on the trailer to get to the track if I don't want to.
I'm another one of the Evo guys that jumped to the Supra bandwagon.
This is me, 12 hours after purchasing it
I don't think there are any cars I'd actually give up my Evo for anymore. You certainly can't do much better with the money you'd get from selling one, so it's kind of moot. If you're in the market for a 911 or something, odds are you have the money to do it, but the crux of the 911/Corvette/M3/etc problem is that every few years, they come out with something that's incrementally better in performance and for daily usage (though M3 is debatable, I think it peaked with the E90/E92). People loop back when they see that the latest & greatest isn't doing it anymore - older M3s and M5s are red-hot because they achieved perfection in their time, and we realize now just how good that was. Every 1990s Japanese sports car is the same. We balked at the ITR/NSX because they weren't the best performers, but you can't even get your hands on one anymore because nobody wants to sell them. If you're hell-bent on getting something, stash the Evo in the corner. You may not appreciate it now, but you absolutely will again one day, and you'll be glad you held onto it.

The people that knew better than to complain about the ITR/NSX are the ones enjoying them now. Good for them. Those that did balk missed the bus and have probably moved on anyway. Having owned an ITR, I have deep respect for it and many other Hondas. A few of them are absolutely amazing to drive and own.
As for selling my Evo: that would give me at least $20k towards a down payment on a 2015-2016 GT3. I'm okay with that.
