4g64 oil squirters yes or no
Hello. I know this subject was on and off for many years. I am building 4g64 engine that will see a lot of boost and question is do I need oil squirters or no? I did read all possible forums and answers are yes and no. I asked couple rebuttable engine builders some say yes some say no. Please help. Thanks!
Having squirters is a good idea, it helps pull heat out of the piston which will help with overall life.
It really depends what you're doing with the car.
If it's a trackday car, then definitely yes.
If it's a street car or drag car, probably dont need them. But always nice to have.
You can also get the conrods with the journal relief on the piston side. This can squirt some oil upwards also.

I left the decision to my engine builder and didnt have them installed. However I do run high oil pressure without balancers and am always concerned one day I'll blow a seal, so if I had it again, I would have asked for new squirters to be installed as long as they don't bend them and they have plenty of clearance to the pistons.
I like the idea of oil squirters in a 64 block but it has to be done correctly.
I would also strongly suggest a fire ring setup because of the closer bore spacing.
Concerning high oil pressure, you could also slightly port the oil filter bypass opening to knock it down some if its an 8000/8500 rpm engine.
