Good morning gents! I recently acquired a 2003 Evo 8 here in Ohio and need some help possibly. The car came with a decent amount of modifications and knowing how tight this group is maybe someone could assist in helping me find out some info on the vehicle. I originally purchased the car to build with my kids, but after looking at it, it may have more mods than I can see. In a nutshell I am trying to possibly track down a previous owner who may have some info on what has been modified on this vehicle. It came from an auction in Washington. It is Black with a slight tear in the driver seat. Someone put a ralliart badge behind the shifter. HKS exhaust with the stickers beside the exhaust. blacked out marker lights on front and rear. Triple gauge swapped with hvac, that doesnt stay in place, as well as the hvac not working properly. I have attached a couple pics to view. Just curious on some of the history of the vehicle.
Which tuning software uses the 9 pin data, single wire in a rectangle plug and only has 1 wire tapped on the main ecu harness? Ive been out of the game for so long, I only remember dsmlink from back in the day. Lol.
Also, plugs were pulled and they are soaked in fuel and black. Im thinking it may have been tuned on E, because it breaks up super bad once building boost at wot, thats why Im needing to figure out the tuning software to get it hooked up and see where my numbers are at.

Likely using ECUFlash and a evoscan cable for tuning the stock ecu. The real question is what rom is on it. That will take some sorting out.

Thats the cable I use on my 9 so you should be good.
For logging, you'll use evoscan. Look around the forms for TephraMod, that is "likely" what your car is tuned on.
Ok. So I am almost complete with going over the entire wiring harness and putting it back to working order for safety reasons. I have received the tactrix cable and gotten it connected and the initial rom downloaded to look into. Once I get the injectors back from flow test/cleaning, I plan to put it back together and log some data, so maybe someone on here can help me sort through the issue I am having. After looking at the tune, everything seems to have been messed with and looks to be of normal tuning, but I am having boost cut/fuel cut/break up once it starts to build boost. I will do a boost leak test once it is back together to eliminate that from the diagnosis going forward.

What setup software uses 9 pin data, one wire in a right angle plug, and only has 1 wire connected to the main wiring harness? I've been out of the game for so long that I only remember dsmlink from the past. Laughing out loud. Sometimes obvious things create unforeseen difficulties and you need to spend a lot of time on this. This process reminds me of choosing interesting online games when I can spend hours studying blogs with famous reviews at https://review-games.com/blog, so the idea of staying away from the game for a long time and not studying technological innovations is not right for me. I hope you don't have this problem.
Yesterday I replaced the blackened plugs and the result surprised me. I regretted not having done this before.
