Can anyone translate this, and does this look like a VII or the new VIII?

You can get a rough translation of this page by using babel fish at http://world.altavista.com/. It will allow you to paste in the website address and then it will atempt to translate the page. It does a decent job of it. The page is in Portugese. The pics look like EvoVII's though, as the have two vents on the hood instead of one wide one. The front grill is also different than the spy pics.

OK. Well, you're right. I've been to over 200 sites on the net, and www.evolutionm.net (this place) is the #1 source for info. I've done all the online digging I could possibly do. Whew.

If you enter " evo viii " in a google search that same page comes up and their is a link above it that says for google to translate the page... pretty funny translation but you can at least understand it. All I got is more confirmation that we will get a six speed.

I'm fluent in portuguese guys, here's a rough translation:

"Mitsubishi is gearing up to release its 8th generation Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution at the beginning of next year. "AutoExpress" magazine states that the EVO VIII will have a more dynamic front end, notably a new air scoop on the hood and a totally revamped front bumper.

The 2.0 turbo engine was also part of the revision. It now pushes out a maximum binary(???) of 329Nm, 9 Nm more than on the current version, the EVO VII. The new six gear transmission will help the new engine on the EVO VIII to reach 0 to 60mph (0 to 100 km/h) in only 5 seconds and reach a top speed of 258 km/h (not sure how much that is in mph).

Mitsubishi engineers are still testing a new system of internal traction (???... can only have to do with the AWD, AYC, and ACD), with the objective of maximizing handling when turning."

(Automotor)

That's pretty much it guys, again it's a rough translation, if u wanna ask me any questions, feel free to post them.

Thats 0-62 for 0-100km. Yes, it does make a difference, sometimes a gear change isnt needed to 60 but to 62 it is belive it or not.

Im fluent in science. hehe

P.S. the translation I got says that the system of traction is an AYC for the front. (might have been a different article.)

I know what u mean, i just put 0 to 60 because it was just the most rounded figure and everyone uses mph in US, rarely kmh. In any case you re right about the gear change...

258 KPH = 160.31 MPH

Very long gearing I suppose.........

Gearing for a top speed of about 160 will be perfect. cause with the kinda wide powerband and 6 speeds this gearing will be close enough to stay well withing the peak power band yet should provide a good, quiet ( ya right ) low rpm gear to cruise to vegas with.

160mph isnt that wide, the viper and vette go till about 180.
