2.3 Strokers how many miles do you have!

How many miles do you have on your 2.3L stroker engines and at what power level? I am asking because I have never build 2.3 but I am currently with spare parts. It is going to be a street car at around 470-500whp. As we all know 2.3L rod ratio is not perfect but I am wondering what mileage can be expected from 2.3 before rebuild. On some 2.0L that I previously build for my customers and some friends made 40k+ without an issue. Wondering how does it look on 2.3L. I know piston side loading and bearing wear is expected on 2.3L. Thanks!

So far so good! It's been almost 9 years and 40,000 miles since I repaired and installed my 2.3L billet stroker motor using the 4g63 block.

I'm still using the Manley billet crank (190120B) that people said would eventually crack *knocks on wood*. Looks like they were not all prone to cracking so easily. I don't drive the car as often or as far anymore so it has only just hit 130k on the odometer. The first 33,000 miles with this engine were on the FP black while the last 7k were on the TF06-18k. I don't miss the FP black.

Thank you for your reply!! Great to hear that it is still going strong after 40k miles!!! I guess not all manley were cracking, also I know manley changed the design in all cranks after year 2021 so I hope they are good now. You did not like fp black compared to TF06-18k? I was actually considering fp black but I might have more fun on fp red or maybe TF06-18K turbo. At what rpm did you had full boost on fp black? And how about your current turbo? Thanks!!!

We're kind of in the same boat, coming up on 12 years and 60k miles, 4g64 block and the Manley 94mm billet for a 2.23. The entire time has been with a FP Red, including some fun laps in touristenfahrten at Nurburgring.

It depends on how you properly care for it.

I had about 20,000 miles on mine pushing around 650whp and 600wtq. I eventually lifted the head and destroyed the head and the block. It got torched. I did a lot of highway pulls with it and took it drag racing a couple times a year. I think it did well for what it was. Upon disassembly we found the Manley lightweight crank was cracked also. I rebuilt it to a 2.3L again so yes I would still recommend it. Although if I do it a third time I'll probably go with a 2.2L.

What crankshaft did you go with now? I know all of those older manley's were cracking. I talked to Manley couple weeks ago and they told me they changed their design couple years ago and those crank are straight drilled now. What they told me their Forged crank for evo can withstand 900hp. I did not try it but I might in the future. I am putting together 2.3 with oem 100mm crank. Yes not the best option but the cheapest option and I think it will be fine for what I am trying to do with the car. It is going to be mild build on the street.
Also at what rpm did you had full boost on your 2.3 and fp black? I am considering fp green or red for my 2.3, basically I want to do 500hp with the quickest spool possible.

My Manley crankshaft was from around 2010. So maybe they made it better since then. I went with a Callies crankshaft with their aeroshed treatment. I want to say I hit full boost of 40psi around 4-4,500rpm. I also have a 4.11fd so that also effects spool time. I have gsc r2 cams which really helped my spool time over the s2s that I had. It also made 50 more peak wheel torque with the R2s.
