Exhaust cut out

Yes, I searched but didn’t find what I was looking for.

I’m looking for pictures and brand recommendations for an exhaust cutout. My current setup is quiet, and I really like it—but every now and then, I’d like the option to make it louder.

Would adding a cutout require a retune? I’ve seen mixed opinions on the forum. I’m running a Link ECU on E85, and if my boost levels stay the same, I’m not sure why a retune would be necessary. Any insight would be appreciated.

I want to do the same and haven't found alot of info either. Im leaning more into using a 60mm wastegate and welding to the downpipe and using the smallest spring

In theory, you should re-tune. If your current exhaust is providing some amount of restriction, the turbo will spool faster and in theory change the fuel and possibly timing required at different RPM and load.
In practice, you could probably do the cut out, take some logs slowly increasing the load and boost while checking that the fueling and everything stays safe.

And with a link, this should be pretty simple as I believe you are running closed loop the whole time letting the ECU adjust fueling as needed. It really does come down you our specific setup and how much the cutout setup will be changing the restriction.

No problem. I am not a tuner so I can't say for sure the real life effect but at least in theory there is some.

There was a company that was making boost controlled cutouts; basically it was a wastegate that opened at like a set boost level via a vacuum line. I always thought that would be the "best" way to do something like this because that way its consistent pull to pull.

I'll look into it. Do you remember who make it?

I did a quick google search and it appears there is far more than 1 company lol. Just have a look around.
