Ac issue I think with my 05’ Evo 8
Ac issue I think with my 05’ Evo 8
So recently about 2 weeks ago I fixed my ac system, not entirely sure if this is a issue or not so I’m asking anyway.
so with the knob turned to max ac the car blows ice cold no issues other than it doesn’t seem like the compressor cycles off.
now if if I turn the knob off of max ac and hit the ac and recirc button it still functions as it does with max ac.
if I turn the recirc off and leave the ac on it’ll keep the compressor engaged for about 5 seconds then disengage for 5 seconds then engage for a second and stay off. The air cycles back and forth between cold and warm when that happens. After it engages for a second and kicks off it doesn’t kick back on and the ac light will start flashing. If I turn the ac button off and back on it kicks the compressor and same cycle happens. But if I turn the recirc on with the ac or turn it to max ac then it functions and I get cold consistent air.
any advice or input would be appreciated.

That’s a weird one. I can’t even try to replicate it in my 2004 RS. I clicked on this hoping someone else had a fix for my AC problem, the button stopped working completely. Used to take a few pushes but now never turns on.
Anyway, your AC button light flashing makes it sound like this is something the car is doing to let you know there is an issue, like the one Vicious mentioned above.

I took it to my friends business to have him help me diag it. High Pressure was on the low side for the temp it was at, it also wasn’t equalizing between high and low sides effectively with the ac being off for 6hours.
We evacuated the system, put a vac on it refilled it and the high pressure is still struggling to make proper pressure with the proper amount of R-134a in the system. We suspect that the ac compressor itself is worn and on its way out. so I’ll be purchasing a full service kit from autozone to see how that works for me.
This one worked great for me
