Evo VIII ECU in Evo IV
Evo VIII ECU in Evo IV
Trying to troubleshoot this ecu swap. I’ve done the pin swaps and car will start but won’t hold an idle. I can pedal it and keep it running but once I stop it dies. It is giving mil for camshaft/crankshaft (sorry I don’t remember them off head). I’ve swapped back to the Evo IV ecu with wiring back to stock and it fine. Everything I’ve seen shows both sensors are the same and the picks ups are also. I’ve connected pin 40 to 92 (sensor grounds) and 40 to a direct ground on the ecu side. I’ve also grounded 91 directly to chassis. Immo is disabled.
Thanks
Randy

Update. We’ve tested the wiring. The cam is getting 5v and crank is getting 12v. They both have ground thru harness to ecu pins and chassis ground. The signal will have to be probed unless evo scan will cover it (that’s a Monday job).
is the Evo 8 ecu more sensitive then the 4? If disconnect the cam sensor it doesn’t affect it a bit. Like I said the 4 ecu doesn’t have any cel and runs fine. The 8 has cam/crank faults. Wiring per fsm on evo 8 is correct and like said checked all 6 wires directly from sensor to ecu.
