Does you Evo eat oil?

I'm trying to see if anyone else's EVo eat/burn oil. I search the archivies and all old posts are gone. So anyone have this problem? If you do please include the amount and milages and driving habbits. Thanks

From what I heard Evo was not suppose to burn a single drop of oil.

how old/many miles on yours?

just curious because my evo used to eat oil too- in fact i had to add a quart every 2000 miles. and my friends woul tell me when i shifted a little smoke would come out the exhaust. since i was concerned about this i went to the mitsubish dealership and asked them- they said it was perfectly normal and that mitsu allows up to a quart every 1000 miles before looking into the matter.

I can't seem to remember how many miles i had on the car when this was happening -although i know it was probably a few months after i had gotten the car. so im guessin in the area of 5,000-15,000..but now, for quite some time, it hasnt eaten any oil.. im at 25, 000 im only adding 1 quart in between oil changes. and it doesnt smoke when i shift so.. maybe yours will be the same way.

So far neither of the two Evo's I have owned have used any oil. But a few owners in my area have reported loss of some oil. Mostly it has been owners with cams added.

My evo burns some oil. depends on how aggressively I've been driving. I posted the exact same question a while back and basically this is a fairly normal thing as long as its not excessive. I lose a quart every 3-4k miles.

You may want to get an oil catch can

10,000 miles/1 year old on mine not a drop lossed. For those that burned oil, did you break in your car properly?

I have 3800 miles on mine, no oil lost, and I followed the aggressive break in posted somewhere on here, the one where basically, you drove it like you stole it for 20 miles and then followed the standard break in procedures (supposed to set the rings better to the cylinder walls).

i have about 5,000 miles on mine and no oil burned yet.. my dad has 11,000 on his and to my knowledge he has not burned any either. I was sort of thinking that it might burn some, but I was surprised when it didn't. I don't think it is serious unless it is excessive as other people have already said.

My Evo was burning a lot of oil when I first got it and ran M1 10-30. Then I switched to Kendall nonsynthetic 15-40 and I haven't burned much since. Catch can has been installed since about 4k (15k now) and not a drop in there.

I was down 1L of oil at my 5000mile oil change. This time I decided to check the oil at 8000 miles and I was down 1L. We'll see where it is at at 10,000 miles. My Evo is stock - no mods.

I've got 30K miles and was told at 22K miles when I brought it in for something else that it was down 1.5 quarts, I had an oil change done at 20K. I've never checked the level myself, but it gets checked by the dealer once a month. They never mentioned it again before and after and I'm sure they would of, because they charged me for the quart and half of oil. I followed Mitsu's break in procedure, and at the time of the loss of oil the temperatures were in the subzero regions for quite some time.

I had been burning a quart of Mobil 1 10W30 every 1000 miles or so. This is with cams, tuning, and slightly higher temps than stock (race gas).

Switched to Amsoil (also synthetic) and very little consumption now.

I was losing a quart between oil changes (3500mi interval) for the first 3-4 changes. After the 4th oil change, the oil consumption slowly decreased. Now I lose less than 1/4 qt between changes.

SC~ 30kmiles

My car would burn maybe 1/5 of a quart between oil changes.

But during my first track day,
I think I burned about 3/4 qt within a few hours. The last half of the day maybe 1/5 of a quart.
