Painting my stock wheels

Hey guys. I want to paint my stock wheels glossy black. I cant afford to powder coat them. Some ghetto tire shope messed up my wheels so im not too worried about it being perfect. I'm planning on painting them myself with spray paint. Anyone have any tips on doing this?

Use this stuff:

If you take time to remove tires, thoughly clean and scuff the whells. Take your time on paint and clear them. They should last several years with proper maintainence.

yeah man, powdercoating is way too pricey. If you know what your doing, and you use high quality paint, it should come out just fine. I did mine the semi half assed way. As in, i didnt strip the factory paint or sand or anything. I figure i'll try it this way, if it works it works, if not ill re-do it right.

Good thing you didnt go with powdercoating, once you apply the powdercoat and ready to bake it in an oven, the heat from the oven for the curing process will cause your wheels to get anneailed, making them alot less stronger.

How did the process work out for you with no prep and just paint?

pics, please as this is on my to do list next week. i was worried about the baking process as well, and i have another set of rims for daily wear, so i decided that i would do the stockers for autocross/road race tires. something flashy probably.
