Lancer Evolution Weight Label Recall | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
Don't show up in uniform. Just show up wearing your gun. HA!
Actually, if you didn't go in for the sticker thing, then your vehicle still is technically under recall. That's very likely what that first part of the letter is indicating. And you'd be right in guessing it's probably the last thing they care about, and yes, they just want to buy your car cheap and sell it. Because a lot of people buy used Evos. Though it would be awesome to find out they owned up to bad (insert whatever your complaint with your car is here) in a batch of cars, I doubt it's going to be the case.

Call Mitsu Headquarters and ask them what this is about, since all recalls are supposed to come from the headquarters not the dealers. If there is no recall, get the dealer in trouble for lying. If it turns out to be real, tell us the details.

FIrst of all: DON'T service your car at Mitsu. I love getting stealership letters telling me that my service interval is coming up. Dumasses. The factory recall the letter eludes to (mistimed) is the sticker nonsense everyone got in the mail.
AS to the acquisition of your vehicle to "stock" their pre-owned inventory - the "buy back" represents the cars wholesale value (dealer trade) and most likely will not meet you payoff. So, don't do it b/c these cars definitely have a "market" value which greatly exceeds their wholesale value.
FOr example KBB lists a 2003 Evo with 12K miles as follows:
Dealer Trade: $ 24,725
Private Retail: $27,645
I bought my Evo for $27,645 a year ago.
i was just thinking about this stupid weight sticker thing, they just want us to bring our evo's in to see what mods have been done.so they can log it into there notes, then when something does go wrong the'll just void your warranty, im not letting them touch my ****
I got the recall letter from manufacturer, not the dealer. The recall was about the sticker with gross vechicle weight. The sticker now on our car has the wrong weight. Mitsu said something like the sticker is giving the wrong info that the car could haul more weight than it actually can. According to Mitsu, it may cause damage to the car, impact the performance, brakes, accidents, etc........
They said we need to call the dealer, ask them to order a new sticker, and take the car in for sticker replacement.

Yup! Toyota Dealer X called me the other day because they wanted to "buy back" my Celica. When I told them I traded it in for an Evo they said they wanted to "buy" my Evo. Its not a gimmick, it is their attempt to sell you a new car (they'll blind you with "equal monthly payments for a newer car") while thinking how they will make money out of your old car. This is a good deal for them but not a good deal for the poor unsuspecting soul who just got tricked into another car sales negotiation session, got lowballed on their trade in and ended up with another brand new 60 month term loan. While they are at it they offer you a cool brand new set of floor mats for only $5 more a month (5 * 60= $300 for floormats)
Now, if they disguised this marketing trick with a recall notice...that's low
just my .02

Not to nitpick, but on the recall letter it does say that you have to call the dealership to have the dealer place an order for a new label. When the label arrives at the dealership, they will contact you to arrange an appointment to replace the label.
If you called them and set an appointment specifically for replacing this label, they should have informed you of this procedure anyways...so basically, yeah they still suck.
