Buying a Used Evo

Well, I have convinced my parents into buying an evo within the next three months but they are not willing to spend 31,000 obviously. I am looking for a used Evo that is around $24,000 and below. Where can I find good deals on used Evos and maybe ask them to keep a lookout for maybe even something cheaper? I obviously would like a maintenance record to make sure the car has been taken care of (oil/tires changed, etc). Forty thousand miles on a 2003 wouldn't seem to harsh knowing it was taken care of and obviously it wouldn't keep the 31,000 dollar price tag.

Thanks in advance and please tell me anything else I may need to know!

Also, I live in Tennessee (near Alcoa Mitsubishi if you have heard of it) and I guess they wouldn't mind having the car shipped/traveling to look at it as long as it is a pretty good deal.

You should start looking into some used car websites.
Carmax.com
Autotrader.com
Cars.com
Carsdirect.com
Those are some car websites that you may want to look at. If you can get a carfax report. Meet the owners and talk to them to see if they took care of the EVO. Good luck man

Good things come to those who wait
I got my Evo with 10k miles on it for $24k back in Feb. MINT condition - stock clutch was perfect and it had $3k in mods too! Where did I find this deal? Ebay . You gotta take a BIG chance when you bid on Ebay because you could be getting a Lemon. I never even saw the car in person until after I paid the $1k down.

Best deals and scams are on ebay...

I know I don't have the cajones to spend over $10K on something I haven't touched and seen personally, but great find.

Any chance of dealers still having dusty '03s on their lots and wanting to let 'em go cheap?

Do a search on the sites that AlvinOne listed. I found mine in Birmingham from Autotrader. 15k miles, perfect condition with all maintenance records for a little over $23k.

You can probably answer this question by doing a search on the website. Lots of dealers list their inventory.

Also call, because sometimes they don't list all of their cars.

If they are available, you should be able to get a great deal on a 2003. The lowest I saw them go for was a little less than $27K 6 mos ago, so if you find an '03 or demo, you could get a great deal, maybe $25K? Search the threads.

BTW, this is one car I wouldn't feel comfortable buying used unless I was prepared to replace the clutch and had a good mechanic who knows this car go through it.

I got mine at carmax.

I got ripped off, but their 30 day warranty is excellent. paid 26k for 14kmiles 03.

got new tires, new rims, and had most of it taken care of. And I know I'm not getting anything that's going to void warranty or lemon.

I recommend them, if you wanna play safe. I recommend autotrader if you want something cheap. I recomment ebay for things that's got mods and is already voiding warranty.

Search farther. 100 miles isn't even much of a drive, man. I got mine with 8k miles for 26k. I have records of the repairs and a carfax on it. I was a little hesitant to find it had a rebuilt tranny, but then again, if Mitsu already repaired the tranny once on warranty, I can make them do it again and again if I have any problems.

Mine wasn't listed for what I spent. He originally had it at $26k or something. Later reduced the price to $24k. I talked him down from there. I wasn't rude about it. Mutual agreement based on the time he was willing to spend trying to sell the car and what I wanted to pay.
