Lancer Evo in Canada?

Hi all you Evolution lovers.
I am new to his board.
let me have a brief intro about me.
I live in Canada, Vancouver BC to be exact. eh~~~~ :P
I drive a Eclipse GSX. And I love Mitsubishi cars.

Anyway, I am pretty sure all of you are from US, or other place other then Canada.

We are just starting to have dealers in Canada.
A friend of mine told me that the EVO will be coming to Canada next year.

So my question is, is any of you here are from Canada?
if so can you comfirm if it is true?
Cos I am ready to sell my Eclipse and get a EVO.

Also my friend told me, that the EVO will not come with Recaro seats, the Breaks, FMIC and the Momo steering wheels.
And it is deturn to 250hp to match the WRX hp.

Another question is, if you guys would know the price range of a EVO?

My friend said it will be 40000 CAD, cos it should be the same price as a WRX in Canada.
What is the price of a EVO in USD?

Which rise another question, will the STI come to Canada as well?
and what will the price be for a STi?

I want to get all my facts before I sell my Eclipse and before I make any moves to buy a EVO.

Thank you in advance for the answer.

Welcome to the forum.
First off I am not from canada and am not sure whether or not they will be bringing the evo 8 to canada or not seeing as how still hasn't even confirmed (publicly) that they are going to even produce it at all. Here are the rumors as I see them.

The evo will be under 30k US and will go on sale in jan. or early feb. in the US. The car is suppose to come just slightly detuned to pass emission testing. The FMIC is suppose to be there and the output around 265HP. Recaros brembo brakes huge spoiler and maybe even a sunroof will all be options. The stering wheel should be the same. The AYC and ACD diffs are probly not going to make it however. As for the STI it is suppose to come in full form minus a few horses a little after the EVO 8 does. Price on an STI should be around 30k as well.I highly recomend you read at least all the threads in the evo section that are within the past month to get familiar with all the new spy pics and such and to learn what everyone belives will be happening when it does come.

My 2 cents.

is that the base price? so will it be like 32000-34000 with all the options? and after tax?

Welcome. I've heard reports both that the Evo will be coming to Canada and that it will not, so I really don't know at the momment. We'll just have to wait a little longer and see what Mitsubishi says.

KiDEvo,

You should read this earlier post about the Evo in Canada https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...&threadid=8406

So far the news is not good that the Evo will make it into Canada in 2003. As for the future

If the Evo does make it to Canada you are probably looking at $40,000 to $50,000 CAD for one. $30,000 is the rumored price in the US in US dollars.

Holy crap, 40000 for the Evolution? Forget that...
It sucks living in up here. I love Mitsubishi and all, but I'd rather take the money and spend it on a cheaper car and completely mod it out...

Plus I'm not that rich.

hehe
ok I didnt read that far back in the board.
But from what I read on the thread, the info is from ppl in Canada is basicly same as the info my friend gave me.

But About what BlackSTi said,
If really do need to change their front bumper to pass Canadian safety law, I think the EVO8 will be place to start working. Cos since they are haveing a new front bumper, they can adjust the safety to meet the Cad law while they redesign the front........ or maybe they already have change it to meet the CAD safety law, and thats why EVO8 have a diff look.
Well just an idea that is in my mine.

Hey Evo_dan how much you think the EVO will cost and how much you will pay max if EVO do come to Canada?

Like you, I intent to get a EVO in my garage no matter what.

.

Doesnt really suck living yup here
we do earn a higher minimum wage of 8 dollars here instead of whatever you guys get down there. Our stuff is more expensive anyways, everything. So its not like 40 000 CAD would equal to 30 000 US

No kidding $30,000 USD is not equal to $40,000 CAD. Its more like $1.5950 (exchange rate as of today) x $30,000=$47,850CAD

But manufacturers usually don't sell cars at the exact exchange rate so it's proabably going to be $3,000 to $4,000 cheaper. This is to take the GST into account. Just checkout the prices of the current cars for sale in Canada now.

Hmmm if what friend told me is right
The EVO will be detune, and will be 250 hp.
Then it should go for sell for 40000CAD
cos WRX is around the same price, if they charge 40000+ for EVO most ppl will rather buy WRX since it is cheaper.

you know what I mean?
